VN - Ren'Py - Being a DIK [v0.10.1] [DrPinkCake]

It is a very good game and very easy to enjoy,, though some parts were kinda weird on the story but i guess this kind of games are normally like that so its understandable, besides that everything is very good. The graphics are great, could be better but at the same time are perfect, the development is pretty easy to understand and the plot isnt one of those that you get lost in for its complicated parts

Dr. PinkCake is incredible, and this is a masterpiece with heart and soul poured into it. Being a DIK is as sexy as it is touching. My favorite visual novels are those that give me characters that I can really connect with, and a cast that really feels alive. This is that kind of VN. I laughed, I cried, I had a hell of a time, and I can't wait for more.

For me its at the moment one of the best game here.
Fantastic and funny story and a beautiful animation.

The only thing I didnt like was the start of the Season 3, because i wanna see more from the MC, Derek, the Diks und the HOTS.

I am not one of those AVN fans who consider Being a DIK to be the best AVN. There are now a lot of college AVNs and despite BaDIK's outstanding graphics and talent for drama, much of it wears out over time.

But it still deserves five stars. There is hardly an AVN that uses minigames so skilfully, where you learn something and are constantly challenged.

Hardly any AVN manages to stage the plot in such a cinematic way. The tansitions are great. The melodrama is outstanding. I read a critic who criticised BaDIK for its melodrama. But the way I see it, almost all AVNs are melodramas by nature. They live on their emotionality to hide the lack of gameplay.

For a VN BaDIK does have a surprising amount of gameplay though. Be it the puzzle-minigames, free-roaming or the combat sequences. What BaDIK has to offer in the latter area may not be Tekken or Street Fighter, but it's pretty much the best thing in renpay AVNs right now.

BaDIK has a high replayability, because the storyline differs in many places, depending on which LI-path you follow. It's just a question whether you can muster the patience to go through all of this multiple times, since it takes an insane amount of time to play through the whole thing as it is.

But above all, and this is one of the most decisive arguments for me, BaDIK delivers entertainment in series quality and so reliably that an end to this long plot is not in sight. Many AVNs are abandoned prematurely, especially AVNs with high production costs. So far, however, it looks as if we can look forward to many years or seasons of entertainment with BaDIK, at a consistently high and rising level.

In terms of plot, BaDIK is not exactly sophisticated and that might be its biggest weakness. But it is attractive for all those who like to binge-watch 20 seasons of The Simpsons, 15 seasons of Supernatural or 100 seasons of Doctor Who. With BaDIK you are entering a universe that may not end for many years to come. That is an achievement in itself.

Ps. If I'd only be rating episode 9 (without interlude, which I enjoyed) I'd give BaDIK 3 stars instead of 5 as there is no progression, no character development and no meaningful suspense. Also since the end of episode 8 there is increased railroading when it comes to relationships and plot development.

I played a ton of visual novels but this is one on the best, hands down. Compared to the graphics of other VNs I have played, this game is high quality. There is some voice acting along with the environment where the fuck-em-up takes place and the story is just really good. If you want the girl’s POV too, that’s now an option.

I really really really want to give this a 1* but if I close my eyes whenever that pink cunt is on screen, it is easily a 5*. Truly... Only played first season so far. Brilliant on so many levels but not perfect.

Renders, girls, writing. It's all some of the best shit ever. I laughed A LOT. You started to really care for these amazing girls (and guys, even!). And you can't get enough of them either.

Most frustrating part is that it's actually difficult to understand what each girl requires of you and you easily get burnt cause you made the wrong choice or happen to be too much or too little of a DIK. Then you have to go FAR back to fix it or start over.

Hell, I found the whole DIK<-> CHIK system to be very hard to navigate in general. At first I tried to max out on DIK points cause I thought that was the point of the game and it was never really explained (I think?). Then it turned out the main girls requires you to be neutral or CHIK. Also I still don't understand how I could be "neutral" while still being far left on the DIK side of the scale. Like there are two ways to measure it but how do I affect it and what does it do? AGH.

Also the tests are way too hard and annoying. I wish I could've turned them off after I already started.

But I will never forgive the dev for FORCING me to choose between these girls. Like WHAT. I still haven't picked the game up after that.

The story might be good if it admitted to being 100% linear. It offers the illusion of choice, but the choices don't change the story. You can choose "No", but it's gonna happen anyway. There are QT events to "fight" for stuff, but you can't have the stuff, cause that would change the story. Most of the LIs are literally whores ($ for sex). There are a lot of swinging c**ks, and telling them to f**k off doesn't get rid of them. What remains leaves the lewds few and far between, and an MC with no thought or power, regardless of the DIK score. This must be what Hollywood thinks college is like. Only play this if you're *really* hard up for some sissification.

So when it comes to this game, I cannot shower enough praises on it. I've kept up with this game since EP 5 and been a Patreon supporter since. Everything from the animation to the music are phenomenal, but I want to focus on 1 specific aspect. Storytelling. The storytelling in this is truly fantastic, and I'm not afraid of saying I teared up a bit at some moments. Even the Interlude, which to be honest I put off on playing due to it being a side story (which I deeply regret), was fantastic and made me instantly care about a new character this late in the game. I've actually recommended this game to quite a few people IRL, and I recommend to anyone reading this post. Hats off to the dev team and you've got a ride or die fan in me.

Absolutely the quintessential perfect AVN game. BAD sets the industry standard as far as I'm concerned, and anybody who plays it, whether they like it or not, cannot disagree. I am not sure if it will be the peak AVN game as there are some other promising ones in development too, but you will not regret playing this game.

The game is simply incredible- the story, the visuals, UI, character development - hell, even the minigames are good fun!
There simply is no other game like this, it's a pinnacle of AVN's and I hope a new standard for games of this type in the future, I have high hopes for the future of the story and cant wait to see what comes next

Usually, I would give a scoring system based on the experience I have while playing this game. However, this is a rare instance where I don't since BaDik is the golden standard of VN games, it started the trend/revolution of games set up in college/school settings (not gonna mention what the other games are). Anyway, renders, animations, writing, story, plot, pacing etc. are all great, what can I say more about the golden standard. You would think I would've given 5 stars if it were true, I left one star out due to room for improvement since it's already one of the best games on F95, but due to it being one of the best, higher expectation is well... expected. Character diversity is great, but the character itself feels a little bland, do give it more "flare" or "flamboyance" since I feel it hard to feel for the character sometimes (unlike dev's other projects). Long story short, just play the game and support the creator/dev if you think it's good. Sure it's a great game and the golden standard of college/school-themed settings VNs, but stop comparing it with other similar college/school-themed settings games since some of the devs might feel dismayed by the constant discouragement and comparison. Don't bring others down, lift them up yo

good story, good effects. but the game is very unstable, a lot of crashes often occur, and it may ruin your gallery in game. almost every 2 days, your renpy saves may be corrupted. this crashes leads to weird situations where previous unlocked gallery scene are not unlockabke anymore aftour hours of play. and you have to unlock them again.

i highly recommand to save often your renpy save folder in a safe place, and each time an horrible crash occurs, you have to replace your old save by your backup folder

Some games will are just beyond good. This is one of those games.
To sum up this game:

Animations are great
Story is vast and fantastic
Characters and dialogues are intriguing
Humor is well excecuted in this game

Everygame has some minor flaws, and if you look carefully you will notice some of them. I noticed some, but after playing through the game I've managed to forget what they were. The game in my is in my opinion just that good (as in not bothering to remember any flaws it might have)

EDIT: I'm bumping the game from 1 star to 2 star because of Madame Rose. Every other character is boring as hell though. I had to cheat and skip straight to Madame Rose content.

EDIT: There seems to be a character called Madame Rose. She's super hot. Hopefully we get to meet her soon, but this mundane, normal college crap is boring as hell. It would be great to add Madame Rose as a main character, even including her in the beginning of the game, and throughout the whole game, because the normal girls are boring personality wise.

EDIT: It irks me so much that I can't get into this game, meanwhile everyone is praising it. I tried to understand why in the thread, but my posts were perceived as wanting to start a fight, when in actuality I was venting my frustration in the hopes of simply receiving insight, from those who do enjoy the game.

This is the 4th time I've tried this game. So you start as this average guy, working an average job. At your job, there is a kid you hate, and he kind of orders you around, his dad owns the place. It's really plain and average.

There is a cute girl who works there. For some reason, she likes your character, instead of the other dude who works there who is from a successful and rich family. It would make more sense for the girl to like him instead of your MC.

So far it makes no sense. Women like guys who are in some kind of position of power, unless they have no sense of self worth, and trust me, you don't want a woman with no self worth.

So you get into a college. You go to college and normal college stuff just kind of happens. Pretty boring so far.

The women are very normal. Their models were considered attractive back in 2016, but they're outdated now. EDIT: The newer seasons seem to use more updated graphics, that's cool, but the story is still meh, it's so mundane.

So yea, the character interactions are very normal. Imagine if you walked into walmart and talked to some average person about the average weather. That's this game.

After 30 minutes of gameplay, the story goes absolutely no where. It's just a bunch of mundane, normal activity the average joe would do. I don't see how this is entertaining.

This game is like the cat video of porn. Cat videos are insanely popular on Youtube. This game is like that, the cat porn of youtube. Shallow, empty, lifeless, mundane, filled with casual conversations that lead absolutely no where.

One of the best games out there. Starting was a bit rough, but as you click on ahead, it keeps getting better and better. Every season, the graphics keep improving ; the gameplay is surprisingly not boring at all for a point and click game; the the best aspect of the game- the story. With twists and turns every season, the story keeps the player immersed; the characters are well written and feel very much alive. The graphical renders are simply stunning pieces of art; with the gorgeous detailing the characters feel real. The mini-games are enjoyable without being boring. 4.5/5 (excellent)

The graphics and sound are both great. The story is really good though relies on cliffhangers too much and routes act a bit weird in terms of story beats. Still though one of if not the best games on here.

One of my Fave Five. I gave up on this one twice previously as it really struck a chord with experiences I've had in my own private life. Glad I kept coming back, the playthrough has actually, surprisingly, eerily, mirrored what transpired in my past. Fingers crossed the Josy/Maya thruple ends as successfully and happily as my own did...

The fact that this game got rated so high is a clear proof that people on here have absolutely zero taste. The writing is worthy of a 12 year old and I can't believe how many people actually support this. It does not even have voice actors and only uses free assets! This feels more like people are trying to satisfy some kind of college fantasy.

All characters are just bland and don't have anything going for them. I can predict what is going to happen from miles away. Nothing exciting is happening and this feels more like some kind silly drama.

The reviewing rules specifically state to not mention other games in your review.

Fortunately, I don't have to since this is the best game on the site. That's all there is to it. It's better than all the other games. Play it now if you haven't.

Renders are good, animations are good, dialogue is good, pacing is good, story is good, length is good, minigames are good, in fact, I'd have to struggle to think of downsides, but they'd just be minor nitpicks overalls.

Character diversity is great, there's almost something for everyone here no matter what your preferences are.

Only real downsides are some clunky dialogue/story segments
Just get it and play it if you haven't.
