Anyone have any ideas for how the Maya/Josy storyline could be "fixed"? I've thought about it, but I just don't see any sort of redemption for those characters happening for me. I'm not saying it was necessarily badly written (though some think so), but this episode kind of ruined those characters for me (though again, some loved it).
I actually thought about that for a while, and I'll share my thoughts. Apologies in advance, I'm pretty sure this is going to be a whole lot of text once again.

Obviously, what Josy or Maya might do exactly depends on how the story will develop, but I believe it should be possible for them to redeem themselves.

The first question would be if it's even an issue that these two aren't too popular among players. I think it is.

To elaborate - if we are looking at Quinn, for example, I would argue it's actually a good thing that many dislike her, because she is intended to be a divisive character, and so far the game allowed players to act towards her accordingly.

In contrast, Maya and Josy are close friends with the MC, and if a player strongly dislikes a character that the player character is supposed to like, they are probably going to feel at least a little bit disconnected from the game, and that's never a good thing.

Right now, some might feel they'd rather be done with Maya and Josy for good, but if they were to disappear from the scene I think it would actually make it worse. After all, they were desperate for the MC to give them another chance - so now that they finally reconciled after all this drama, not actually being friends with each other would not only make Maya and Josy look bad, but also the MC and that entire story arc. I'd rather have them fixed.

So in order to fix them, let's look at what's wrong with them. Why exactly do people dislike them, apart from how how that reconciliation scene went down?

I'd say it's mostly that while they have been pretty close to the MC in the early stages of the season, there was no significant progress with either girl ever since. On the contrary.
  • Josy came out of the gate especially strong, making out with the MC in the first couple of minutes, and inviting him to some sexy time not long after. It felt like she was about to dump her anonymous boyfriend in favour of MC - instead things got complicated, to say the least.
  • Maya let the MC move in with her when he was in desperate need of a place to stay. That was pretty cool - but just when things were starting to heat up between her and MC, she fucked him over pretty badly. To make things worse, after the MC had forgiven her, we found out she had lied about her being in a relationship - not once, but twice.
This in itself probably wouldn't be that much of an issue, but it's certainly not something to write home about if you compare it to our recent progress with all the other main ladies:
  • We had our first date with Jill, had a blast and shared a passionate kiss.
  • Sage allowed the MC to stay at her place, they are now friends with benefits and have gone all the way for the first time.
  • Bella allowed the MC to stay at her place, was surprisingly caring, and there was even some sexytime in her bathroom.
Plus, if someone doesn't want to actively pursue either of these three, all those intimate moments are avoidable, at least for now. They are not forced on players the way Josy and Maya are, so at least there's little reason to be annoyed by them.

Either way, what Jill, Sage and Bella have in common is that at some point, they took the MC into their homes and took care of him when he was in trouble. Also, so did Derek.

It's so easy to like these characters because they were friends in need. They have proven that they care about the MC, and I believe that's exactly what Josy and Maya will have to do. Josy has been all talk so far (although that's not entirely her fault), and Maya's signs of care where undone by signs of betrayal.

So what I'm thinking is that they have to do something, anything, that only a real friend would do. After that, they might be allowed to ride off into the sunset, but they should do something meaningful before that. Also, I think it's important that they get their individual moments with the MC instead of constantly apparing as a happy couple, for obvious reasons.

Again, they can only do whatever the story allows them to do and personally, I'm not much into speculating, but I don't see the MC leading an entirely carefree life in future seasons. I have no clue what is going to happen, but I'm sure there will be dark times ahead for the MC, and there will be plenty of opportunities for someone to step up and be the best friend they can possibly be.
Very well put and organized but I thought I would put my perspective. I believe there isn't a real way of having them "redeemed" without contradicting what has already been in place. The only thing I could think of would be the opportunity later on in future episodes to get Maya/Josy separately. Again the only way I think that is possible is if at some point in the story they think to themselves that they aren't as happy in their own couple, meaning Maya and Josy, and miss their relations with the MC. Then again that would only really work with the "I want to stay as friends" path, and as how the story has been going so far, you can't really go onto a completely different path. At least not at the moment. The scenario I mentioned before wouldn't make sense in the path where you keep the love triangle going. Seems kinda weird now thinking about that Josy and Maya are both seperate LI's but at this point in the story are a package deal. Maybe later on they are supposed to separate. We'll have to wait and see. Again very well said and organized sir.(y)

That's a pretty good idea actually. Try for more - get a triangle. Stay as friends - see their relationship crumble at some point and pick any of them you want. Although I suppose that would leave the other girl very disappointed, but I guess the ones that pick that path wouldn't mind.

Or you could get both! Idk you can already get almost everyone in the game at once so it's not entirely impossible. However it could lead to some further drama later on.

Burke (or Jade, don't recall which) mentioned trying to spice up their relationship and mentioned Bella. Bella seemingly implies that she did it.

I actually found this post that basically describes what went down, it was a few hours ago lol. This threads moves too fast to keep up with

The thing is though, we don't actually know when the Bella/Jade/Burke stuff happened, as mentioned above. The husband could've left when he found out and Bella hasn't done anything since because of regret. Thats why I said Bella has cheated more than once, potentially.
I had to do a quick skip through of the game on her route to confirm the timeline here. I don't think she did anything whatsoever with Jade/Stephen. All quotes of guilt equally apply to the MC and Stephen explicitly states he never slept with Bella. Timeline is this. Burke invites her in Ep1 and says they can meet Friday night. She needs to bring wine.

Then, you get the option to either go to the DIK party or stay home with Maya. During the DIK party it's explicitly stated that it is Friday night (the conversation is about how packed it is and Rusty confirms the day is Friday) and you then go home for your Josy date at the weekend. So at this point Bella has been on her Burke/Jade evening.

Later on you meet Bella and get invited to dinner, get drunk and ruin it. You kiss her she says she can't do this "Not with a young student, not with anyone!" (that's a direct quote). She then goes back to bed and masturbates and thinks "How long has it been since a man did this to me?" "Three years?" Now that doesn't prove she didn't do anything with Burke/Jade just that it didn't... inspire her to masturbate like MC did.

Ep3 rolls around and Jade and Stephen argue. She says they would only spice things up "with each other" and Stephen retorts that they "Well we tried that already, most recently with Isabella! She was clearly already in love." He brings up Isabella again and Jade gets made and he explicitly says "I haven't even fucked her and you're acting like I did". From here you gain Bella's trust at the cafeteria and she then tries to actively set you and Jill up. She pushes Jill to date you, says she likes you and texts Jill when you're in the library so she can come see you.

Stuff happens eventually you go see Bella in the library after asking Jill on a date and her inner monologue the stuff about "Married women don't fool around with young student, they aren't intimate with friends either... but that was different, It doesn't matter I've stopped it. Please James forgive me." You kiss her and she asks "why are you trying this again."

See to me, this implies the monologue was referencing the MC as the "friend" and she's "stopped" anything happening with him. The flow was you don't fool around with young students, they aren't intimate with friends *either* meaning the MC is both a young student and a friend. She's saying there's double the reason to not be kissing the MC.

Nothing anyone has said indicates she did anything with Jade/Stephen. Stephen explicitly denies it and Jade doesn't mention Bella when rattling off people Stephen cheated with (namely Cathy). They tried to rope Bella into something but she wasn't interested. Bella was into the MC and felt guilty over that, not being with Stephen.

You mean both at the same time, but separately? That could work for some time, but ultimately we would still probably have to choose one of the girls at the end.

Finally caught up with the forum...

Do you guys know how you could get a Dik letterman jacket irl? Imagine cosplaying as one of the Diks and going to a con and someone recognizes it?
You'd have to get something like that custom made unless DPC goes into selling merchandise.

Thank you!

I should have mentioned that I was only considering what is currently the "friendship" path, because I figured that people who are on the "romance" path have less of an issue with the girls... So I was trying to focus on how to make the ladies likeable characters again especially for players who currently hate their guts after that "let's be friends" fiasco. ;)

Apart from that, I also hope this three-way scenario will not be the only romance path for them in the future.
