Pretty simple, people who do something solely for the money get complacent. The game is not even halfway done and it's already up on Steam, I'd understand if it were to be finished or if the guy was struggling with 100 patreons, but he's not. Now of course, I hope that I'm wrong and that the updates won't get more and more rare...but if they do, now you'll know why.
to put a half done game to steam, even with over 4000 paetrons.. is bullshit. this is scamming in a new level.
putting oput updates without content, just for bug fixes after months is a slap to every paetrons face ....

No it isn't. The weekly status updates have been completely honest about him focusing on the steam release while animations render. Nobody expects an actual update before maybe early May

and than he comes with an update without new content ..only bugfixes .....and this after months .. this is sad
You must be new here,
He updates this masterpiece every 4 months or so.
The Amount of Content and the Quality is worth the wait.
Other Devs might release something every month, but you can't even compare other games to this.

Just a Bug Fix, what a pity, see ya in 6 months again for the next update/fix

The biggest con to this is that I can only release patches to the $5 tier, because the big file with all episodes must be kept in the $10 tier because of the Steam release. You will still be able to play the new updates with the patch. But you do have to save the previous version between updates to make this work.

So Steam gets priority now, time to stop my support......
And it is so stupid because Steam is a one-time purchase and not a monthly income, yes it probably was a lot of quick money but is not the same. The big reason he has been able to make the game so far is for you guys, you must be the top priority.

There is a lot of seasonal AAA games on steam this is nothing new. Are you saying he should wait until the next update TO FIX THE GAME?

Have to say people complaining about the bugfix update rather then a actual one is mind-blowing the og fans of this game know why the updates take this long to make.

The reason the updates take this long was simply caus the dev needed to make a three path way section to his game and that alone takes time since he needed to make extra content for all those 3 paths plus the hell week section needed closure and the Jill date needed some added stuff

So its common sense that it would take long to get a update out if u understand how long it takes to render static and animations plus write the story and all the extra stuff

The dev put it for steam caus this was basicly the first season of this game basicly a big intro in the college life if u will

Besides the big party to celebrate getting into the dik fraternity that the dev left out its basicly a wrap to the first season therefore its fine to put it on steam

This coming update that will for sure be around march or begin of april who knows will be that party stuff and then get into the second half of the storyline

At least this dev puts out content with plenty of stuff to do

But its sad that all the old fans got booted off here so that the new ones cant get answers from the people who were here at the early stages....

Another dev that went the Steam sellout route...at least it's not hard to tell who's doing it for the money anymore.
It's not a "sellout" thing. If it was "for the money," then trying to push people to do the Patreon is smarter, because on Steam people are paying a lot less than they would be if they were paying monthly. So yeah, you *can* tell who does it for the money: People who restrict their games to Patreon, forcing someone to keep paying monthly if they even just want bug fixes.

Creators putting their games on Steam are trying to get their games seen by more people. I don't see any problem with that. If I did a lot of work, I'd love for as many people to be able to access it as possible.

The amount of bugs in this game are extremely low. Bug finding is not a simple task. Even after spending several hours trying to perfect the game, some bugs still creep in. We humans have the tendency to oversee stuff.
EVERY bit of software has this issue. Even with a QA team, there's going to be scenarios they don't test, because people will try things that aren't how you expected them to do things (like saving with special characters). The game's pretty polished as it is. I don't see why people are overreacting to the idea of patching a few bugs. It's good to get those things patched rather than leave them broken.

The game is not even halfway done and it's already up on Steam,
The first season *is* done and is on Steam. Steam-only users have to wait for Season 2 to be completely done before they can play it, whereas Patreons get the episodes as they're done. You don't seem to understand how the Steam release was done.

Steam isn't something awful like you guys bizarrely want to claim it is. I wouldn't have even known games like this exist if Acting Lessons hadn't ended up on Steam and popped up as a recommendation. I tried it, loved it, and have been following BaDIK. I avoid Patreon because that pulls *more* money from each person than a Steam release does. It means that I have to wait longer for content, but it's convenient for me, so I accept it. There's some games I'm interested in, but I avoid them because I'd have to pay monthly installments on Patreon to download the game, or just wait for it to be done, pay once, and get the completed game, then quit the Patreon... which is basically the same for the creator as if I'd paid for it once on Steam, just more hassle on my end.
