There's nothing strange with that. People may find villains more interesting and complex, just like some find good guys bland and boring. Villains through their villainy, present to us the harsh realities that exist in the world. They provide us with glimpses of the real world and it’s problems. Some also change our perspectives on things and provide new insight into the way of the world. Villains are just broken heroes’. If someone made a movie on their journey from a hero to a ruthless villain, we’ll root for them ( Am I right Joker ?).And yet therein lies the strange dichotomy; Maya who is not a bad character is perceived as such by a number of people and is why they have no interest in her, yet Quinn who is shown to be a bad person doing bad things is perceived as a good character and many people are interested in her despite her being legitimately bad.
Thanos is a genocidal warlord, a hero killer and a horrible father, he's still the real star of Infinity War.
