There's definitely some baggage there, his remark in EP5 about how he likes to stay out of things because he tends to make them worse (or something along those lines) hints at that pretty clearly. Not gonna argue the rest, though, Derek is a great dude, especially when he at least bothers to put some pants on.:ROFLMAO:
Can that really be classified as baggage though? I mean it's normal to feel as if you ruin everything that's good. That just means he considers himself a F-Up at best.

His self-knowledge is on point, that's for sure, but that has to come from something. That something might never be explored or he very well might be over it already (which would be refreshing in this game) so maybe baggage isn't the right word for it. But having a clear picture of oneself as someone who ruins things rarely comes from positive experience.

whats your theory on how Jill and Bellas thing became a thing?
Well first of all, I don't think they every were "a thing" as that would imply it was ongoing. It anything, I imagine it would have been once and that's it. As for what I think it was...

Probably wrong, but it's what I'm working with right now.

Also, I don't think that Bella's husband has been gone for 3 years, but that simply she and her husband weren't intimate with each other for 3 years because the spark went out of their marriage and that whatever caused him to leave was more recent, probably something that happened within the last year.

plausible. that was my theory except the part with her husband coming back.

Indeed, the MC getting his pp wet is no small factor. At the end of the day it IS a porn game, even if it's of the more sophisticated kind.
Right?!?!? It's a GD PORN GAME!!! You want realistic relationship building, go watch a Meg Ryan or Hugh Grant movie or something.

To me, that would explain why she pushed the picture to the floor in ep 5 because this thing that "won't happen again" had something to do with him. It could have just been that his possible cheating led her to have an intimate moment with her friend because of being in an emotionally vulnerable state and she deeply regrets it and blames him for it, or it could be that this thing that happened was discovered by him and it caused more problems with her marriage.

I mean, Maya is his twin sister and he seems to be the only one who takes care of her, her baggage IS his baggage.

Oh yeah, THAT Meg Ryan scene in the restaurant did some serious relationship building between my right palm and my prepubescent dong when I was like 10. :BootyTime:

I'm deeply sorry for that mental image.

Everyone after a few hours of playing Being a DIK:
I can't decide between Josy & Maya, I really like them both. I CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND!

AFTER "THE INCIDENT" HAPPENS:
I can't decide between Jill & Bella, I really like them both. I CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND!

I love that transition :ROFLMAO:
nah man, maybe I‘m a minority here but I can‘t stand Bella and don’t like Jill that much. Yeah she‘s pretty and all but her reporting the Chad incident pissed me off, like don‘t interfere in my own problems if not asked to. Also Bella just a cold bitch, maybe I messed up my relationship with her and she will eventually open up but, whatever

It kind of already is a "power fantasy" game, all adult VNs are; he converts a lesbian, can get into a throuple relationship with 2 girls, be FWB with the sorority President, have the richest girl on campus be totally smitten with him, get hot and heavy with 3 teachers, and cum at least 6 times with several different girls in one night.
It kind of already is, I totally agree. But it used to do a better job at hiding it (I don't agree that all adult VNs are, some are, some aren't and some have a decent build up that makes it look plausible. BADIK used to be the third type), and if he keeps adding more and more porn tropes it will hurt the story a lot. The game is an inch short of adpoting both "harem game" and "all women are secretly bi" already (yeah, I pretty much consider it a harem game at this point). This is either the calm before the storm giving us a false sense of security or then the story will become more generic and dull. I think we should trust DPC and give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but it's not looking good.
If Jill and Bella is a red herring, then it would have to be a bloody big herring because there's not really much else that seems to fit what's known at this point, or at least not anything I've seen people being here being able to come up with that makes greater sense. DPC would have to pull a M Night Shyamalan style twist for it to not be what it appears to be.
We've already had this discussion, I'm not going at it again.

I'm fine with the potential of "harem" setup, but for folks who don't like it you can always reject people. And from the way the dialogue goes I get the feeling that going "just friends" with Josy & Maya may actually provide an option in the future to pursue a relationship with them again. Which would be great since I've generally got no problem with J&M, I just wanted to get with Jade. Though Bella is my favorite. Sage is also good. My top 5 (no particular order): Bella, Sage, Jade, Maya, Jill.

It's not about liking it or not, or rejecting people or not. DPC fancies himself as a serious writer, and the game treats itself and its story seriously. For now it has realistic characters and a plausible and realistic story, but if this trend goes on it will end up being just another porn game with a cliché story with some plot twists from time to time.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that out of all the characters, Derek is the only one that doesn't seem to have any baggage?
I mean i'm straight AF though, but I feel I would choose Derek just to avoid any unwanted emotional trauma... :ROFLMAO:
I don't know, I strongly suspect whatever happened to Ashley has more than a little to do with Derek. It's possible she might be another another victim of Quinn's menu, but given we know that just happened to Mona, it feels wrong to have double up on the same story with Ashley.

If I'm right, I think Derek will get his share of drama (beyond whatever fallout he gets from Maya's eventual storm).
