VN - Ren'Py - Being a DIK [v0.11.1] [DrPinkCake]

Wow, everyone talks about Eternum (which is great for fantasy) but this (i'm somewhat through the first season {chapter 4} ) is so real. I'm struggling to see how it can drag me in so deep. I guess it's the author's imagination and great writing but I have to applaud it. I had (I thought) some great idea's for a story and characters, but this has made me re-think the whole idea of making my own story. I would/will fall short. I'm from the UK... we don't do shit like donating cash to youtube/patreon etc... but I can't deny I would pay to see this continue as far as possible if the author (and honestly that's what you are.. you are not just an NSFW writer.. ) has idea's on keeping this moving. top rating should have an extra button for outstanding contribution to this format, much love to the author and graphics are top notch too, not to mention the audio . WOW to you all xx

You wouldn't believe me if I told you this was the same dev that created Acting lessons! And they couldn't be further on the rating scale from each other.

Dr pinkcake has nailed down the lewdness and a fantastic storyline, my thoughts (this is based on season 1 and season 2)

The story: The story is fantastic with many, many choices to make, juggling with the mutiple women and otherchoice is just fantastic

The writing: Fantastic writing. This is how you write a VN

The renders: Amazing built in feature for renders and lots of renders to collect (I didn't collect them all)

The models: Gorgeous and sexy models

To summarise: This is probably the second best game i've played (second to midnight paradise) I'm looking forward to playing season 3, this'll be updated when season 3 ends

I don't really like games where you have to follow several routes to get all the content in the game, which is why I don't give it five stars.

However, this is certainly the game with the best models, animations and stories I've ever played. I love the creampie scenes.

That's why I highly recommend this game.

This is much more than a simple porn game. It has such great story telling that you think this could happen somewhere, every character has so much depth in them that they almost seem real. This is my favorite novel of all time with just how much passion was put into it. Also Bella deserves the world!

This game is an absolute master piece, I just finished season 2 and I just can't get enough !
This game is actually really vanilla compared to what I usually play and I still love it so much !
The game obviously look really good, but to me 2 things stand out in this game (in a good way) :
- The game is really polished, I mean that nothing feels janky or wrong, the gameplay loop feels good it's easy to navigate menus etc...
- The story and characters are just perfect, I'm so invested in them, I was actually losing my mind when deciding which girl to date.

So in conclusion, easily top 3 Lewd game I've played if you haven't played it get to it !

Its probably time I wrote this review after I spent more than 200 hours in it.
First of all I am gonna recommend to not play with mini-games. Its flat out worse game with it than without it.
Last time I played it was with mini games and I felt like the magic was gone.

Its really not, its just suffocated by so many mini-games that completely shatter any kind of pacing S3 has.

Its still has among the best writing in AVNs, some of the best models, flat out best music and characters in any avn. The only one that comes close is Eternum, and even that one doesnt catch it with its music selection.

Is it true 5/5 ? No. But its goddamn close. Very few games will leave you empty, or wanting to have more content. There are like 5 games in my life that did this. Eternum , another one is Witcher 3, Mass effect (original trilogy) and CP2077 - if that is not high praise then I dont know what is.

I hate to say this but however promising the story may be Being a DIK falls flat within later episodes and seasons. Especially with the mini games.

The first few episodes are fine as the mini games are fairly simple and the story is entertaining enough but problems arise sometime around when a new character called is introduced.

The thing is throughout the game you'll have to complete a set of mini games especially in between some scenes. This is done way too often.

These mini games earn you some cool renders which is fine but what isn't fine is the mini games being necessary for everything like money and reputation within the story.

Although some can be fun this can really take away from the immersion and distract you from the story if you have an especially long mini game.

The free roam is rather difficult as well since the place is so big you get lost easily.

In short: This game seems more about hard work in mini games than a VN. It's really disappointing as it seems that the game's story/routes are legitimately interesting. It's just plagued by unnecessary features.

Excellent story and character development (both PC and NPCs). Funny, emotional, silly and serious throughout. The editing is done with a great sense of timing. You can see the author coming to grips with the tools at his disposal and mastering the narrative and cinematic experiences.
Plenty of choices to be made to have the relationship(s) you want, with very few short branches leading nowhere (for now?).
Gameplay is never repetitive (except for the optional mobile games), with new concept interspersed at regular interval.

The characters are genuinely well-written. Some scenes are hilarious, others are emotional, and a few hit way harder than you'd expect from a game like this.


The visuals are super high quality — easily some of the best in adult games.


Music slaps. No joke, the soundtrack adds a ton of mood.


It's not just click-through reading — there are mini-games, stats, even a bit of resource management.

This game is a masterpiece love it too much, I loved all the characters, well what to say of them all seemed very charismatic, endearing and memorable all Dicks and Hots, everyone has their own as each one is so different from the other and it is made to highlight them by making them that it is impossible not laughing, angry and even becoming sad, dialogues are precious, interactions with the characters, the romance with Jill seems to me something of the most romantic that I have never seen in my life, and the other girls do not stay behind. I love as really if the decisions you make as dialogues, scenes, how your relationship with some girls have repercussions, I also loved all the interactions you can have to have the cell phone and its mini -games, your twitter all this seems to me a great sample of dedication and love for the game. And not to mention the scenes of the game, the best scenes that I have seen in this type of games

Before episode 4
The game was nice to play: fun, interesting story and good gameplay.

After episode 4
In a attempt to turn the game more like a game and less visual novel, the dev introduced a lot of mini games, keeping the old ones and adding new ones. On the beginning, it was fun...but the dev overdid it, adding them frequently, tedious, and unecessarily hard working, turning the minigames a frustating experience.
And of course the freeroam. Worse navigation system ever. After episode 4, it's a crazy experience. Much bigger places, made this a very frustating experience where you can't understand the path that you took, cant understand where you came from, and can't find the right place to go. Then, i was surprised that the dev prob. notice this, and added the "Quick travel", but only for a few places.
The story started to get boring, and with no sense dialogs. The DIKS getting more and more stupid and boring.
The magazines that are hidden around the freeroam, can now only be found if you see its pixel, literally pixels on detailed images full of objects, and they get smaller and smaller every new episode. It's ridiculous.

In short, after episode 4, the dev forgot that this should be fun to play, and not hard working. The general quality dropped a lot, (except for the renders) and i couldn't avoid but to drop the game.

It's the pinnacle of NSFW games. The story is captivating, the dialogue is very well-crafted, choices REALLY matter, the writing is truly incredible. You're completely anxious to know what's going to happen, and the plot twists are jaw-dropping.
And that's not enough, the scenes are easily among the top of the entire site.
I'm usually a bit hesitant about design when it comes to 3DCG games, but this one blew my mind, not only because of the characters' appearance but also because of each one's personality, how each one is unique, how each one has its flaws and qualities, all very well worked out.
I won't simply recommend it; I'll say this is a must-play game.

Doesn't get much better than this one. Everything about this VN is amazing. Your choices not only affect the story, they also affect how your MC speaks. There are so many paths, so many LI's to have fun with. The renders and animations are top tier. I wasn't a big fan of the minigames but fortunately you can turn them off. The music is absolutely the best and fits perfectly to each scene. I highly recommend this.

Imho I didn't really like Acting Lessons, However this VN is just INSANELY good. Great writing, Great MC & his background, great memorable characters & their backgrounds, great writings, pretty fun minigames & stuffs also the rooster thing & side contents are truly good. It's just a flawless VN so far I've tried, hands down.

Being a DIK is way more than just a spicy college game — it’s a full-blown emotional ride . The characters feel alive (hello, Sage & Bella ), the writing is witty and heartfelt, and the game balances humor, drama, and romance like a pro . Honestly, you laugh, you thirst, you feel — it’s chaos and connection in the best way possible .

This game is fun all over the place, you can even choose to do the mini games or play without it. Although I know that the minigames can help you make money to unlock many scenes you wouldn't be able to see, still without them there's a lot to be seen.
The game itself has the best use of these very over used models. But you can see how each of them were lovingly put together, possibly the best use of these kind of models you see exaggerated in most other games.
The story and it's rammifications are very well played, with some weird dev choices here and there.
Played it many times to try out all the paths you can take with the so many different options it has.
Fantastic game I'd definitely some day Patron, once I get a decent job that allows me to repay in kind.

TL;DR
Amazing VN so far (Season 3).
Overwhleming amount of choices, gorgeous girls, very good scene animation, a amazing soundtrack and a surprisngly deep plot.

Some more words (may contain light spoilers):
The game starts kinda simple with only a hand full of mechaniks and a manageable amount of side content like minigames. But it gets bigger and bigger over time. Some stuff gets cut out again later, but i guess you can still call it to much at times. There are curently 4 main branches. Wich are the main girls as well as a "free" branch. Choices matter a lot and you can look out yourself pretty early on on some content, so prepare for more than one playthrough if you wanna see everything.
Whats amazing is, that the branches not only determine wich girls you can fuck, but also from what perspective you experience the main plotline. That huge load of content allone makes this VN kinda unique in this bubble as far as im aware.
If you are in search for a VN with lots of choices and lots of side content, search no further. Just give this one a try.

PS. i might sound kinda overpraising here. Sorry about that. I have some criticism about the game, but that are things others have pointed out way better than i could and its also kinda overshadowed by how much i like the game.

This VN is just simply amazing. There is not one thing that you can call bad in this game. Renders, length, story, free roams, number of choices, girl variety. Everything is simply great. Sure you can criticize small things based on your personal preferences, but there's no denying that this is just pure quality.

Those small things for me maybe are that the story gets a bit dark for a porn game and that the sex scenes stay a bit on the vanilla side for me. Sure there is plenty of anal and a bit of BDSM, but nothing really kinky.
But these are just my personal preferences and don't diminish the quality of the game.

I'd never thought I'd get as emotionally invested in a porn game as I did with this, with the dark elements of the story and a few choices that can really hurt as this isn't a harem game.

The characters are so well written and diverse in their personas, I got attached to a lot of them (here is me wishing again that this were a harem game ).

The only thing left to say is thank you to the dev and please keep this ongoing.
