What makes you think the Interlude isn't part of the main story? You have no idea what DPC has planned. It's their work, and it isn't up to you to decide what matters.

But you can't deny the following proposition is true, can you?

If you deny this, you're schizophrenic, because you'd be denying reality (no wonder some philosophers say reality is different from the Real). Thus, call it whatever you want it -- as I said, engaging in semantic debates doesn't interest me --, we're almost an year without that that-has-been-described (label it here according to your tastes :____________), and we'll probably be without it for more two or three months.
Now... No one is denying that there was a release by the owner of the brand Being a DIK™ which was associated to the same brand and officially -- de jure & de branding -- considered part of the franchise (though an irrelevant subplot that will go to the dustbins of the story)... I know it (unfortunately) exists... I'm not schizophrenic...

You've been arguing this point for a couple of months now.
Technically, The Interlude was an update. It took up the time between Episode 8's completion and The Interlude's release. No one can say that it's taken DPC almost a year to develop something.
But, people who are arguing that it's taken almost a year for episode 9 to come out are looking from the perspective that they've been waiting since episode 8 was released on November 19 last year.
So it's basically jut the focus. It hasn't taken a year for an update, but it's taken a year for episode 9.
Interestingly, if you look back at the status updates from June and July where he gave some percentage completes, extrapolating what he had achieved in the time it had taken, it looked like he was going to finish by November some time, and then there would be the testing.
This idea that he's been close to finished only to add more things is probably more to do with our own wishful thinking being undermined. I think we've fooled ourselves a bit, hoping for an October release, expecting similar development times as previous episodes and so on.

I would say it's not an impression, it's DPC saying it directly
when a few reports ago he said that after finishing Bella's run he realized something was missing. if he did the run to test it in theory that means it was finished for him
and then there's this count of animations that never ends, I don't think it's realistic to think that he's adding events, he's just "embellishing/expanding" the ones he had already decided to include in the story, I personally also doubt that they are "sexual" animations.

I don't really know the origin of Christmas, like you know, it hijacked some pagan ritual or some shit. But I'm sure those pagan rituals were rife with debauchery and perversion. So this seems only right!
Not that BaDIK is the epitome of debauchery and perversion. It's pretty wholesome compared to most games here.
If we're lucky he's just polishing the DnG marathon that's sure to be in this episode!

Tybalt's presentation was prepared with the help of one of his pledges. I can't remember his name but based on some of the conversations you see him in, as well as what is said by the preps at Becky's party, he does not like Tybalt at all. My money's on Tybalt giving him the phone to put stuff together and him finding the pic and throwing it in there.

You will be disappointed. Nothing can make up for a 13 months wait.Yea, ep 9 might be a "make or break" type of deal for me personally. It's not like I'm going to drop the game but if it feels as mechanic and disconnected as ep 8 then I think my interest will just naturally plummet. There's just too much to cover that HAS to be covered in ep 9 because of the clusterfuck timing of everything:
I don't know enough of about animations to really determine anything from that but it seems like people keep referring to how "big" the episode is going to be based off how long the game is taking but the thing that's holding things up and has been talked about the most in terms of dev time are the animations. I just don't see how that correlates to anything other than file size. It's going to make everything look better but ... does it really add to the amount of content?
- Ep 8 ended at the Burkes. That scene will have to happen and the subsequent "Oh noooo, what're we gonna do now." conversations
- Zoey
- Lead up to Halloween with all the LIs and the rest of the cast
- The actual Halloween party (it's been two years, you'd think he'd make it a banger)
- Continuing the Maya/Josy throuple or ending it if you chose someone else
- Any real progress with your chosen LI and not just a nice handy-j in a bathroom stall
- New classes to be introduced
- That hospital scene (which may or may not take up a lot of time)
However, if it legitimately takes over 3 hours (minus mini-games and final free roam) to play just a single route and it's not just because the animations are taking up that time then this is probably going to cover everything really well.
Also if what he said about Bella and Sage's playthroughs having so many differences means anything at all then it'll bring back that immersive feeling that ep 8 lacked.
If it doesn't then we'll just end waiting another elongated development cycle for ep 10. It's ... whatever I guess. But it's kind of like when you're following a show and the newest episode or season feels kind of phoned in or doesn't really cover much of anything so you just decide to forget about it for a while and come back to it later. BADIK would probably end up being like that for me, only in this case I'll remember about it in 2 years and only ep 10 will have come out (and it will be the last episode) LOLOLOL

By actually playing it. There was nothing with Josy, Jill, Sage etc. The MC was shown in a flashback as was Zoey. The interlude was a spin off more than anything. It would be like saying Better Call Saul is a part of the Breaking Bad main story. BCS was focused on 2 BB characters just like the interlude with Zoey, BCS focused on Saul's life before BB just like the interlude is Zoey's life before BaDIK started.
The interlude is it's own separate story of Zoey's life before she came back to the MC.
It's been a year since the last update and 8 months since the spin off. There is a reason it is called the interlude and not episode 9 and that is because it isn't really BaDIK but more a spin off of a BaDIK character.

The Interlude is similar to the other flashbacks we get in the game:
- Episode 4's prologue with Maya, Josy camping.
- Episode 5's prologue with the formation of the DIK fraternity.
- Episode 6's prologue with Quinn, Rox and Buddy.
- Episode 7's prologue with Jill and Lana
- Episode 8's prologue with Bella and James
The Interlude follows that pattern (given that one of the final scenes in episode 8 is Zoey returning to see the mc).
The difference of course is that we have some influence over Zoey's decisions during the extended prologue (and even her personality), and of course the Interlude is a lot longer than any of the previous prologues.
I do expect episode 9 to have an actual prologue, of Sage's past with the Burkes since that was the big reveal at the end of episode 8.
But I feel the Interlude is as integral to the overall story as each prologue so far has been. Meaning it's details of past events of characters that are important to the story.
If Zoey becomes a staple character for the remainder of the story, then the Interlude serves its purpose.
If Zoey ends up just having a cameo in Episode 9 only to fuck off for good afterwards, there's likely to be a riot. Both camps will be pissed. Camp Zoey will feel cheated, and Camp anti-Zoey will be able to proclaim that she was a total fucking waste of time.
Only time will tell.
