Is everything we see now in the past, retold by the MC? That's what I understand from the phrasing in the library scene from ep 3. He says he never would have kissed Bella had he known the real reason for her tears. Sounds like he knows it now, right?

Yupp, a few times he narrates. Just like in the fuck fuck fuck fuck at the end of episode 8. MC is retelling the event of his life that probably lead to the end game.
Indeed, DPC is known for attention to detail and rewards people who deep dive his game.
