Because it's DPC and also because it's just DPC. He's developing this game alone and refuses to have anyone else working on it with him. Add his obsession with minigames and useless animations to that and you'll know why. You are right though, the game is literally a slideshow and taking a year to develop a single episode is silly. Eventually he'll realize that it's not sensible to take 10 more years to finish this game's development and maybe he'll also start accepting the fact that he's going to lose a bunch of his followers if he keeps this up. He always wants to prove that he's the best developer out there which is why you see a lot of unimportant stuff being implemented in the game which you won't find yourself or anyone else really caring for. DPC has issues with understanding what it is that players actually want and moreover he has issues tolerating what players really want.
That's just the problem. Although there has been some fluctuation in his Patreon there is no indication that the patrons/simps will ever stop throwing money at him. It's frustrating. But the sad truth is that there are way too many gamers that will settle for anything.

I mention that in the beginning, yeah it's such a blink and you'll miss it moment and only like.... idk, less than 10% of players will even get that specific scene. I think I saw one theory somewhere.... I don't think it it was dalli, but it's certainly stupid enough to sound like one of his, that Madame Rose is Priscilla, a character we still know nothing about. I mean, presumably she's involved with the free tuition scheme, or at least like Stephen's lawyer or something that warrants a phone call right after dealing with Maya. Or maybe she really is Quinn. But idk why she would be a stripper, unless she's like Stephen's favorite girl and he needed to release some steam.

But that's like trying to tie her to the main plot, because otherwise idk what she could bring to the table with any of the other plotlines.

My speculation is that MR is the actual owner of Pink Rose. Hence the name. She only does the VIP stuff because she gets a kick out of it. And the DIKs are treated so well because they are hot college boys and she is a pervy lady.

It doesn't automatically follow that she is Priscilla, but if you assume that she is primarily a businesswoman, she might very well have a connection to Stephen's shady stuff.

Not sure why some want quantity over quality. Personally, I prefer it to take a long time and turn out great than released quickly and is just meh. CK tried the quick route and we all know how that turned out.
it's all a matter of opinion, I really like the game as is personally, others disagree and whine about dev times cause they think crap is being output. It is what it is, not going to change anyones opinion.

Why does it take forever to make one episode? This isn't some indie game, it's just a visual novel.
12 months dev time = 12 months patreon pay and other moneys
there is 5 main girl -> 5+1 path (kind of 5+1 game)
lot of mini game and free roam and the mobil stuff
upgrade chars and downgrade Maya hair :ROFLMAO:
and all what L1m1tl3ss already said

i think he didnt mention anything about less quality, only quantity need improvment without harm the quality.

There's really only 4 main girls, Josy is just an honorary one due to being Maya's girlfriend.

Yes but is that the choice here? If you ask a lot of people on this forum what parts of the game they feel are the best in terms of quality of story you'll hear a lot say the first season. I know that's my opinion. And the first season had the shortest development. Now some of that short development was because of branching, but not all of it.

DPC has admitted himself that a big reason for longer development is that he has added many more animations. Are these animations a big improvement in the game's quality? I don't think they are.

DPC's worst nightmare...
I don't know that it would play out that way. Judging from some of DPC's past statements (mostly from the Dec. 2022 Q&A, but not completely). DPC views this development as a hobby, he's just discovered a way to get paid for playing with his toys. I think if Patreon went down he would just drop the whole project.

I know that I definitely don't want to see Heather or random guys from the Brawler minigame having animated breathing if it's going to significantly worsen how long DPC will take to release yet another episode. Same goes for Jacob's 2D art, Pack Quest and whatever else.

First season being the best in quality?

The worst quality renders. Graphic fidelity has increased by multitudes. I hope he revisits it after completing game. Though highly doubt something will change.

Almost negligible branching, mostly railroaded since beginning of the story.

Stiff animations.

MC acting like a drama queen regardless of how big man whore he was or even if he was interested in Josy or Maya in the first plsce.

Only saving grace of first season is Early Sage path.

When asking on ranking episodes, most rank episode 8,10,7,9 as the best in the quality. No one even speaks that about Season 1, which was merely a glorified trailer.

I think the animation improves the game but I do agree about unnecessary animations. But I like the minigames, the Pack Quest (but since you can only play it once, the question is whether it's worth it. But then again, I doubt it takes a long time to do). I'm personally not a big fan of Jacob's art but there might be others who are. It depends on if DPC does the art himself or not. If he doesn't then it's not a big deal. If he does, it might take unnecessary time from the development.

I agree. While the first season was good story telling it wasn't that good otherwise. I feel season 2 was much better. I pretty much agree with your ranking, only I put 9 first because I really love that episode. It was so much fun! I get why some disliked it since not much happened in it to move the story forward but I had a blast playing. Some of the most fun I've had in a dating game/AVN.
