Despite the long amount of time it takes him to produce the update, I still think it's pretty impressive he manages to do everything himself.

As an artist myself I can understand his reasoning wanting to do it alone. I've known some similar type guys in my early school years. They might have been frustrating to deal with in some areas, but they always produced damn good works of art in the end and for them that's all that really mattered. You don't really find that many people that dedicated to their job, profession or even hobby like that. The temperament I can understand but I don't see it as having anything to do with ego or greed at all. In a way it's like someone working hard on creating an exquisite painting or drawing and having someone else come in and paint/draw a small section while the artist does the main section so it can be produced faster. Not many artists would be okay with that as it detracts from what they want the finalized piece to look like and everyone will have a different style that will rarely, if ever, match with each other.

You know how when you hear about troubled movie productions, the term "studio interference" gets thrown around a lot? Oh the suits wouldn't let artists bring their true vision to life, those monsters! That gives a false impression that if left alone, directors would be able to pump out nothing but bangers and masterpiece after masterpiece.

These are broad generalizations I'll admit, but more time does not automatically equal more quality. Creating art is a mix of business and talent, there is give and take. Producers fund the project, but set restrictions so things don't go off the rails, like going over budget or taking too long.
Because his patrons throw cash at him with no end in sight, DPC takes full advantage to do whatever he wants, no matter how self-indulgent it may be.

The biggest example in recent years is probably the Snyder Cut, for both ends of the spectrum. WB re-did nearly the entire movie with Whedon, then later let Snyder put in basically everything originally filmed into a 4 hour movie with little oversight, and he even shot new stuff on top of it. DPC is on the Snyder Cut side, with 60FPS and more minigames and stupid shit like Madame Rose (regardless of how much dev time actually goes towards her). This should be a balancing act, but there's no balance at all.

The game will take forever to make, just to satisfy his artistic vision. And coincidentally he'll make a fortune as we wait.

If i had his talent and the ways to do a game i would be doing it alone too. Its almost impossible to ensure the work is being done exactly the way i want and people pissing me off would take away my will to make a game on the long run. And imagine, you hire someone for a specified amount of money, the moment the game become successful people will become greedy, and the hired person would want more money...if you agree, they will want more in the future...if the amount of money the game makes drop they will not accept less. Maybe the person will get tired at some point and leave the project...then you have to hire someone else, and maybe the person cannot do it at the same pace as the previous one...maybe is a difficult person to deal with....so many bad probabilities that i dont think its a good idea to hire people if the person can do it alone.

Dude, remove Josy from Maya's equation and she still deals with an abusive, controlling, bigoted father. Remove Maya from Josy's equation and Josy's just a high school prom queen type girl with not much to her besides her looks along with Daddy and family issues. One has it way easier than the other, and let me tell you, it's not Josy. If anything, Josy just exacerbates Maya's issues.

Even though I like the throuple and like both girls, I'm under no illusions as to who they both are and what they're dealing with, particularly Josy. She really isn't her own person at the moment and is more like an accessory to Maya's issues, but not accessory in the fashion sense of the word like she's a sparkly add-on, but more accessory in the crime sense in that she's kinda aiding and abetting this bad situation that's befallen Maya. Doesn't mean I think they should split or anything because I believe Patrick is wrong for doing this, but her whole purpose and that of her relationship seems to be as the focal point of Maya's story and drama which means Josy isn't much of an individual character right now. So in that sense, maybe, she's pivotal but not in a positive way, really.

However, I do believe her and Maya are in love with each other and can be good with each other, they're just in a shitty situation right now that can be improved. Josy, though, really needs to start getting something for herself, finding herself as her own person with her own identity and not just have her whole identity being "Maya's secret girlfriend", which is what it is now. Finding a hobby, finding an individual purpose, finding something that lets her stretch her own wings can be good for her and I want that for her because she needs it so it can improve her own sense of self-worth and identity.

To act like she doesn't need any of that, or that she already has that, or that she's "perfect" as she is and has an amazing individual story already is to be blind to the truth and is the literal definition of looking at someone with rose-tinted love goggles.

I never said Josy doesn't have her problems she does however Josy doesn't bring you down with her unlike Maya. It is very clear throuple or off throuple Josy and Maya prefer MC over the other girl, they once love each other but those days are over. There is zero reason for there relationship not to be better then it is now but there relationship is shit. Maybe it can be save but it will take mc other wise it over.

Josy's not perfect, but how much story she has is a subjective view to whoever is playing the game. She's a lot more than just Maya's girlfriend, though. She has her own insecurities, like every other girl, fell for a summer crush whilst being in a relationship, is dealing with the bigotry of her girlfriend's dad and how its affecting their relationship, gets the chance to be with said summer crush and her girlfriend at the same time, takes it hard should they break up (like anyone else would), has to deal with her self-centered stepbrother knowing about her relationship... there's more I could add, but I've made my point.

It's not about who's story is the best, the best thing DPC has done is that he's fleshed out every one of the love interests as people we could see in real life dealing with these situations, and there's no better feeling as a writer than creating a character with depth. I don't see why people have to argue this.

While Josy and Maya are both imperfect, I still think that as the first two LIs introduced in the game, they were fantastic. They both were extremely sweet, very cute, and a lot of fun. Josy was hot, and the crush vibe was believable. Maya was funny and gorgeous in a believable way. They also both gave fairly clear red flags. Really a great way to intro the game for first time players.

First of good afternoon, I was gone for only less than 12 hours and now i'm behind 8 pages. Look's like it will be a long reding for me. Last time I believe someone on what is happening to the thread I'd missed alot of the good stuff that is happening.

They'd need to complete the beta testing in less than a week for that to happen, and that ain't gonna happen.

Well DPC has to play from episode 1 to 11, there are five main routes and the solo route with variations. Let's say it's going to take a while.

If you compare Sage story and Josy story. Sage has a better character development from ep1 to ep10, most of us thought he is just another Slut. But us the game progress her character and story become more compelling. In Josy's case her story revolves around Maya. From ep01 to ep10 her character development stagnate. In my opinion if you remove Maya in the story, Josy will just be another girl who is in love with mc. There is no story to tell other than the fact that they know each other before college and she is Tommy's step-sister. While if you remove Josy in Maya in the story there will be character development in Maya because the story will progress in helping Maya solving her problem.

I believe Josy's character is not developed fully like the other love interests. While she may have gotten some screentime, it does revolve around her situation with Maya. Remember right now, she is having this character breakdown on who is she. I believe the winter christmas arc will give her some development on that.

Personally tho, I want more sage, the romance between her and the MC mirrors the non-cuck version of john boy and elena
