Yes, the Patreon supporters enable DPC to take forever.

DPC still has the option of releasing updates every 6 months (or whatever) rather than pushing the wait until his income starts dropping.

For a 2 year gap between updates, you need both a tolerant supporter base, and a slow/ambitious dev.

Supporters have the power to demand that the dev shortens release cycles, but only the dev actually has the power to do so, and that power isn't stripped from them by their supporters being willing to tolerate them not doing so.

Imagine 4 devs: A releases updates every 3 months, and has demanding supporters that hold him to that schedule. B releases every 3 months, despite having tolerant supporters who would continue funding him even if he took much longer. C releases every 2 years, and has barely any supporters, but used to have demanding ones. D releases every 2 years and has tolerant supporters that continue funding him.

Your argument appears to be that neither B nor C are possible - that it's impossible for a dev who knows they have tolerant supporters to keep up a rapid release schedule, nor for a dev who loses support to keep up a slow release schedule (particularly if, like DPC, they've already earned enough money to retire on).

They literally talk about who's territory they're on when they're talking at the party, and Lily and the other strippers were on Vinny's turf, B&R is Quinn's turf, it's literally stated in the game.

And it's not a question that Buddy is involved with Rio's kidnapping, you literally see Mick (who is Buddy's muscle) helping Vinny kidnap her, they use Mick's blue van that Mick was using to stalk Rio.

Of course it would be good for Quinn to get leverage on Lily. But the stuff about getting knowledge on the prostitution ring and stuff all happened back in Ep 6 or 7. Where their relationship is by the end of Ep 10 when Rio gets taken is a whole new world with those two. You're right about we'll see what happens in the future. That's why I'm just theorizing these things now. I absolutely am aware that I could be so dead wrong.

You are also correct that you did not say equal market share. That was my words and my bad. As far as talking about territory, we're talking about drug dealers who, like you said, don't like each other. You don't have to explain anything to me. I played the game and read the dialogue. All I'm saying is, you can't completely trust the dialogue when they interact. Two people talking isn't a narrative for the game. It's a narrative of their personalities and conflicts. But going with what you said about Quinn and Vinny being antagonists to each other, I'm sure Buddy isn't trying to babysit which is why he never technically downplayed Quinn's boost in sales. It was really only Vinny questioning that and it seems whatever happens, Buddy "owes it to Rox" no matter how much or how little he trusts Quinn. So I think Vinny is more likely to be ousted if conflict continues because in the end, Buddy just wants his money and he doesn't care where it comes from.

That's all I'm really saying. We can keep butting heads about what's happening and who said what and what does it really mean but ultimately, I'm just theorizing here. Neither of us is really right or wrong here. We just have to wait to see how it plays out when these episodes get released.

Episode 11 will cover at least a month (after thanksgiving to christmas), being kidnapped for a month will fuck her up royally. Victims who've been kidnapped for a weekend have said it's ruined their life and have PTSD. Fuck, being bundled into the back of a van is enough to fuck someone up.

DPCs problem now, someone is gonna be pissed. It's either gonna be "why did you ruin a perfectly good character" or "What was the point of the cliffhanger if it has no impact"

has a DPC cliffhanger ever had an impact? like the big pregnancy scare that turned in to an Arieth comedy, or the ep1 "Maya tazed you" that turned in to a party

You could say that Episode 3's cliffhanger led to a decent amount of branching: having fun with Sage at the HOTs house, getting closer to Bella, sucking on Derek's toe like a pacifier :KEK:


Oh and I guess there's the whole Josy/Maya thing. But other than that, no not really.

I was just talking about limiting factors like a collar. Of course devs can adhere to a tight schedule wo. supporter pressure, case B. But by not having enough supporters creates a bottleneck that slows development, case C. So even if the dev would wan't to speed up development, thanks to missing funds, he won't be able to do so. So my point stands, if push comes to shove supporters are the ones who can influence release cycles, not the dev. This doesn't mean, a dev can't, but the final limit is always the supporters non-funding. DPC moves currently in the D case direction, sadly.
