I am still, however, completely baffeled about the whole laptop debacle which I have been convinced is a red herring and that the real culprit for everything is just the obvious answer of Magnar and Co.

I've heard joke answers like jacking off to pictures of Heather and I've heard traitor theories like sending files to Magnar from the laptop to get back at Tommy and I've heard that Nick let in Vinny through a window who used the laptop to post the cluck but nothing fits satisfyingly in my mind.

I know it'll probably not end up meaning anything but this has been annoying me so much ever since release. Why did he have the damn laptop at the most suspicious damn time possible.

I played that lab scene a few ways but I can't figure out what flag controls a successful for not successful experiment. It's probably something obvious but I did try switching my affinity around and couldn't make the connection.

My theory, which is in fact a swag, is that he let Vinny into through the window, and doesn't want to admit that to the guys.

just goofing off and running with it I thought up Magnar giving a thumb drive to Vinny to install the malware on the DIK laptop. Vinny uses Nick to get access and everything is rolling from there.

Yeah... I understand the photos from the DIK's cameras being on the laptop, but imo there is no logical sense why the picture(s) from the hidden camera (like the one where Jacob and possibly Derek is fucking Arieth) are on the laptop unless there is a traitor among the DIKs.

Because Nick in fact did not post the Cathy Cluck

Magnar is using the Brawler app as a back door into cell phones and computers. He waited until someone at the party signed on, which just happened to be Nick. Detecting that Magnar remotely logged in, made the post, while Nick is sitting there with the laptop. Nick see's the post but knows he didn't make it, but he's the one with the laptop, alone, with no witnesses to what actually happened. He panics, tries to hide the laptop and gets semi-caught by the MC who doesn't realize until later Nick was hiding the laptop so people wouldn't know he was using it at the time.

But Nick didn't make the post. He was just the unlucky sap who happened to use the laptop at the time Magnar remotely made the post, leaving all the blame pointing at Nick, who is actually innocent.

Doesn't cause me to have much sympathy for Nick because of how he acted afterwards. He hid the laptop instead of going to his brothers and telling them what happened (which would have made clear someone else was remotely using their account and likely revealed Magnar's tampering much sooner and collapsed his plot much sooner). When he was caught he threw everyone else under the bus, revealing things told to him in confidence. He may be innocent of most of the crimes he's accused of, but that doesn't make him any less the rat.

Unless it was Vinny who installed the camera in the closet turned Derek's bedroom a long time ago. There was something about Vinny using that room to make sex tapes of his own IIRC. So Magnar somehow found out about that camera and found a way to remotely activate it. So the sex tape of Ashley and Derek, the pictures taken in that room, possibly including one of Aerith and two of the DIKs may have been gained not from the laptop, but by Magnar remotely controlling that spy cam.

Its a theory anyway.

Tbf it takes MC a little while to get there, the person running away might've just barely put them back as he approached. Maybe they took the pictures to the greenhouse (although Jamie had it locked before), or Jamie's room, or Rusty's room, or the dining room? But this is all just speculation of course.

The culprit ran to Rusty's room. It's easier to see when the special effects are turned off:

In the next freeroam we see Bianca's boyfriend cheating in Rusty's room, though I doubt he had anything to do with it. Avery is chatting by the pictures during that freeroam (but she's there even after our encounter with her while hiding under Tara's costume). I suspect the girls stealing the pics and the blackout are unrelated.

Granted, IIRC the BBQ was before the blow up scene with Nick, where Derek reveals the spy cam's existence. Until then, only the MC and Derek knew about it. Again, IIRC.
