Speak for yourself. I like her personality, looks and attitude. The only alt girl besides Quinn in the game.
I'm not saying her personality or looks are bad. In fact, her personality is great.

But so is 24+ everyone else. (Well except Bella.)

Her function in the story, the Interlude, and the very nature of how she was presented in destroying the characters and their potential relationships in the game, is horrible. If it was some ongoing trauma, memory, or thing that was holding MC back by not accepting others or new relationships, then okay, that would be one big pay off after all these years of trying other people and failing. If broken hearted manwhore MC is on Others, he could have some kind of revelation where he wants something serious (in the phone call scene where the player is not on anyone's path after Crossroads and feels lonely), somewhat reminiscent of Zoey's growth. Which would be a 2 for 2; Zoey's and MC's growth in accepting a serious relationship, is finished. Zoey accepts MC, and goes to find him. MC figures out he still has feelings for Zoey, and accepts her. It would be the default option, and have it's own place.

But it isn't. MC had no revelation. Best we get is a Joaquin Phoenix pose amidst dad's glass. It's absolutely bonkers that all this time (okay, around less than a year for MC), and all the sexual hi-jinks he's gotten into, all the current relationships, all the amazing women, parties, sex, friends, then Zoey comes back, then the way Zoey was presented, and the way the player just decides to choose her...it's destructive, silly, and seems spur of the moment, tacked on.

Instead of a solid series of choices. Of course, there was no "Zoey" path. Just one destructive option for being nice to an old friend, because your life is so much more awesome after that.

All because you can choose whomever.

This is why Lily, Nicole and Nora work as personas of these ideas (going from Others->serious), whereas Zoey is hamfisted.

Did we really need Interlude to explain her scenario and make her more DIK/Chick? Or that amazing Zoey panic-attacking run cycle? Or her to call up her friends for even more emotional support to do the thing she was supposed to do on day one after coming back? Would've worked as a default Others player going "let's try the old girl, why not?" Makes no sense when on MGs.

it's not same. you have choice to full ignore other girls while they stay part of the story. but with Zoey it is not a case. obviously it can't be like real life and we follow the story dev gave us. that doesn't mean I must like everything about it. especialy if you already have example of don't care about somebody in story is ok. Choice an illusion because why mc would ever invite Zoey at party if he mad at her, already talk with her few times about how he ready to move on, refuse to spend time with her when she ask and not typing her any massages when he have it as option. just to talk? bitch you only talk with her for few episodes at this point even if I tell you not to...
I don't like Josy and Maya. I wish I could have sent them away in episode 1. But I'm not complaining about that, because I realize that the main plot will never be able to satisfy all the players 100%.

see, that's what I mean when saying it is not same. Maya and Josy exist in game and you have no choice over it, BUT you have choice to don't care about them. Then they just making some story pushing while don't care about you. You just friends. Also Derik as your good friend is kinda glue for friendship with Maya. They show up for partys or other events if somebody invite them and still you not interruct on personal topics so much with them. You work on one of main plots.
Zoey existing in game/story also is a fact, you not make a choice there BUT you have choice to tell her you don't wanna have anything with her, and ignore her. But if you, as player, make this choice - mc still go talk about his feelings with her every episode, invite her for partys, start talking to her about their past, etc.
That what I was calling illusion of choice. basicly it could be just slide show with dialogs where you don't have an option and there will be no discusion about it.
liking character or not is other topic, I wasn't talk about. Zoey seems fine as a person. I don't like how she pushed over player decisions.

Oh, come on. Just don't press the big "Return to Zoey" button while in the other girls' path. That's it! Problem solved, moving on.

You seem to have missed all the moments where there was a slow development of his relationship with Zoe starting with Ep.9 and MC pondering who she was to him and what kind of relationship they had - the guy was trying to determine who they were to each other, because in matters of love he is an inexperienced fool.
How DPC brought her back is more of a Chekhov's gun and a mid-game plot twist.

Your attitude towards Zoey and your choices define your attitude towards her. You're define MCs personality, which opens or closes further paths. What's wrong here? It's roleplaying.
Nora path coming out of nowhere. It's another teacher/student romance, we are already have three of them - Bella, Cathy and Jade: all are different and have unique tone: Forbidden relationship with age gap problems, Lust, and Cheating. Nora bring nothing. Except for funny scene with a cat, where MC again looking like a joke.

We definitely need the Interlude because from the storytelling she's the most important person in MC's life after Dad, and seems her comeback was planned from the beginning, ex is a popular trope in VNs. The Interlude just needed to be written better.
Weird that someone still come up with this Interlude topic in 2025, feels like 3 ya when i just joined this place.
