Small world may be a rule but it's not the only one. Sage's biological mother being someone we've already met would certainly be within the rule, but we are low on candidates.

I entertained the thought that Sage and Zoey were half-sisters, but Sage was five when she was put in foster care so Zoey was definitely born by then and would have been put in foster care too.

I am confident in ruling out the manatee on the implication that Sage's mother gave up because of her age and the manatee couldn't possibly have been too young or too old at the time. Too young makes more sense, but I don't think too old can be completely ruled out. In the latter case she would be one of the senior ladies. Someone who did her best for five years and then a diagnosis for something sufficiently dramatic forced her to give Sage up. The former would imply high school age. A girl who tried her best for five years and then ran out of resources. Someone who now would be close to Jade's age.

I'd rule out every mom on the same basis I rule out Zoey's. She would have given up both or kept both. If Sage's mother had children after giving her up they'd be high school age at most. Bella and Cathy would be the right age, but for so many reasons they just aren't possible. Everyone else is way too young.

I'd be more inclined to believe that Sage's mother is about to turn up. Quite possibly as the new teacher.

Imo there is one huge hint and 1 smaller hint to Madame being Sage's mother: Sage's insane dislike towards strippers. If Madame's job is the reason why Sage was put into foster care, it's quite logical why she dislikes strippers so much.
The smaller hint is of course the variant during the dinner with Sage with "casual" Madame in the background. It might simply be a fun detail for people who try to find "secrets", but like many people said it's more likely that she is somehow connected to Sage (not to mention that in the same scene Madame hides her face with her hand holding the same position as Sage, but imo that's just a coincidence).

This seems too on the nose however, usually DPC is more subtle with his hints and only uses in the face hints if the reality would be too unlikely in the real world. That's why I doubt Madame is Sage's mother. I won't be too surprised if she is another kind of relative, but not her mother.

Math and English are Gen Ed classes, so I doubt it. I know Jill tells MC that a financial class would be a good idea, MC might take another science or engineering class on top of the second Bella class.

Sage doesn't know who her mother is though. As a person that is. She knows her name but doesn't dare to look for more information. Admittedly this makes the "because of her age" bit somewhat suspect, but it could be one of the few details the Burkes told her. Being a stripper is something Sage wouldn't know. It may still be a hint in an irony of fate sort of way.

By new teacher I mean one hired to replace Cathy. Her starting next semester would be very normal. This character might not have much impact for MC directly. It depends on how much Gen Ed B&R demands and what other classes Cathy was in charge of. I can't imagine MC would be done with math in the engineering program, but all further classes might be Phillip's responsibility.

No the new teacher being Sage's mom is something I see as a potential twist for Sage's storyline. It's simply a possibility. A way for Sage to reunite with her that has quite a few ways to develop further. The reunion is not in Sage's control so the potential emotions have a wide range. She will be in close proximity but Sage can choose to ignore her. She'll be graduating in a few months anyway. If she wants answers, she can have them. If she wants to slap her, then that's an option too. There's potential.

But just because there is potential doesn't mean that's what DPC has planned for Sage.
