I'm also pissed off at the MC for acting like a moron during this whole Maya/Josy drama. It was painful to watch.

The fact that I could not grab her arm and run to the hills here still pains me

She was choosing the MC and he fumbled so much that it gave her the opportunity to reconnect with Maya.

But I do admit that I was hugely pissed off myself at this point too with the plot twist (I figured that I wouldn't be getting a proper route with any of them without some serious drama).

Maya and Josy were my first playthrough. I cherish the “throuple” and am rooting for it to survive. However, it’s best to start a chick/ neutral path for them. Meaning, start chick, but you can lock in your affinity as Neutral. After that you can behave how you want and you will have Neutral options instead of being auto locked into only Chick decisions. The throuple and Jill (especially) are not really great on DIK paths (and impossible for Jill).
Yeah I'm collecting saves at certain points so I can jump in and correct bad decisions if I screw up. I'm currently down from Dik to Neutral on the Sage path. I'll probably have a neutral/chick save if I do the Bella route. In any case I do intend to do more playthroughs as I really like this game and not even for the lewd content. It's just fun. Though right now the MC is painful to watch. Base Profile Screenshot 2026.01.10 - 05.27.08.78.png

I wish the MC gave them both a chance to explain right away. Him running away made no sense to me.

yeah, mine too, and it was a blind one (didnt look into any walkthrough or forum before).
DPC fooled me good. i did what the game is called and got a pretty shitty rejection from the girls.
i was confused at first and then pissed.
Because you were a Dik and they want you to be a Chick? Am I getting this right?

Another canon event that every player should experience.

I found out only several months later that it was possible to not get rejected by them and immediately went to do it.

But this path is so sad, man. I don't think that throuples work, the game shows that it is very troubled many times, it pushes you to choose between one of them in many situations and this is actually just plain sad because even considering that I do love Josy more and think that her romantical chemistry with the MC is the best (even if you are not romancing her), everything feels so unfair to Maya, who also deserves every love in the world specially after the latest chapter

One thing I've really noticed about the gameplay for Being A DIK is that it really isn't designed for first runs. Most of the game's mechanics are built around pitfalls: the alignment system, the relationships and side characters, the long term decisions, and a whole bunch of content that's pitched as optional but can make or break your game. I'd go out on a limb and call this the roguelike of AVNs - not because of the gameplay itself, but because it seemingly expects you to iterate on your strategy over the course of many runs if you actually want your preferred ending. A lot of other AVNs are very straightforward, just click the options the girl will like and get laid, but this one really goes out of its way to obstruct you from each path rather than guiding you down it. It's interesting to think about in those terms.

I agree, but you can also see it as a more "realistic" approach to experience a game, the less you know about what's going to happen, and the less you know about the morality system "chik and dik" the more genuine your experience will be, you chose because you feel it's the right choice the first time, and not by gaming the system, to achieve the best route for your favorite girl or whatever.

Yeah I don't think it's inherently a bad design. It's just interesting to see it compared to the way most other AVNs are designed and weigh the pros and cons. The massive amount of variation and the challenge of getting your perfect route are both upsides and downsides in many ways, it all depends on player preference.

That's how they get you ;)

Also, I would seriously consider staying away from this thread until at least one complete playthrough. Spoilers are everywhere and you're barely finishing Season 1.
I am doing my best and trying not to look at other discussions. I'm going mostly blind. I did look up characters on the wiki but didn't read their story.

you will find out soon enough, if this screenshot shows how far you played.
Yeah I'm finishing Sage's path in the last Episode of Season 1. I actually think I screwed myself here as I hoped the Dik/Chick system would update before the end and it didn't. Thankfully I should be able to hop on to the Bella path (or Dereks but I assume that one is more Dik as well) and be able to go for Maya/Josy if I want. I wish I could just focus on one path but I always have to have it all before I proceed.

:LOL:Blind is the way to go! That’s exactly what I did. Although… I did get excepted by the girls… :sneaky::LOL:;)
I am also playing more or less blind but I'm leaving saves in certain points so I can go back and try again if I fail.

I'm going to do all 3 paths before I go to the next Season 1 and then start Season 2 from the path I liked the most. That's the plan. Probably going from Bella would be the easiest for me to get Maya and Josy as Bella also want's the MC to be nice. I probably screwed myself on the Sage path if I want to go for Maya and Josy but I can always go for Sage... I'm very tempted to see how this throuple works. I also really like Riona. Choices, choices. Many playthroughs are coming. Base Profile Screenshot 2026.01.10 - 06.03.56.63.png

Hell yeah, another Riona stan. If you don't get any of the main routes you're looking for I absolutely encourage focusing on her, she's great.

Those girls being Camilla, Riona, Mel or Sarah
Cammy's a new pledge, so probably not her.
I'm new and just playing through for the first time and got to the Maya/Josy reveal. Why was the MC so mad at them? Josy told him she had a boyfriend and Maya also told him that she had a girlfriend once. What was there to be mad about? It's not like he was dating them. He was close with both of them but he should've known the other shoe will drop at some point. He's also going for anything with a pulse anyway even if you play a nice guy. It's also pretty obvious where this is going and having one conversation with all 3 of them would probably work everything out right away. I'm so confused at his anger. Did I miss something?
The way I read it, Tremolo is completely blindsided by the revelation, and defaults to anger to cover not knowing how to feel about it. So he yells at them and runs off, needing time to adjust to the idea, and get over his immediate reaction of betrayed anger (covering for shock).

It's still not the most plausible reaction, but I can convince myself to believe it.

It also doesn't help that some consequences don't have immediately obvious causes, like with Bianca, MC stops flirting based on the talk with Rusty earlier, if you told him that he's better than this.

He can realize he overreacted, so it seems pretty plausible.
