Lmao Togashi is also the same. The only person he is willing to work with is his wife. His wife was creator of sailor moon. Both are way too loaded, hence he doesn't care what shounen jump corpos think and drops a few chapters whenever he likes.
A lot of independent creators are this way, to some extent. They may commission others to produce certain side stuff that they themselves can't do effectively, but they want to be in charge of the majority to make sure it all fits one cohesive vision.
