from a purely writing standpoint he could be branching Jill out from just Bella/MC so he has more flexibility to write her into scenes.
Jill was always kinda insular and hard to work into the larger story. Giving her screen time was tricky (which shows in Ep 1-3) and she was very MC-centric. Make her friends with Josy and suddenly she has reasons to crop up in the story more that doesn’t require writing a dedicated scene some people might miss if they bomb out of her route (which you seem to be able to do if you go DIK and tell her you’re bad news).
Flexibility in a story aiming for this many variables is always good. Jill and Josy being buddies puts her in the plot more firmly because her only link to 80% of the cast is the MC.

Switching topics a bit what do you guys think about the Jill Josy friendship. It's mentioned in their bios and theres a comment on roster by Jill that she wants to show Josy something.
Also it would be fun if theres a little family reunion at Jills piano concert. I imagine MC going there beeing looked down upon by Tybald and his Melonfuckers. Then the granddad recognizes MC because if you're rich you can easily keep track of your relatives even if you want nothing to do with them. Theres a picture of a faceless little fat man in episode one if I remember it correctly.

At first glance, you can close Maya, Josy and Jill routes in ep4; Bella on ep3; and Sage on ep2(?). I wonder if the "main plot" includes any of the girls at all.

How old is the MC again18-19? I can get the sulking around but the thing is he probably hasn't been in many situations like this before if at all so he probably doesn't know how to react. Most of us in his position would go okay fine I need to take my mind off this with lots of beers and a trip to the strippers perhaps. But as I said the MC is at that age where he hasn't yet matured properly to handle such situations.
