why are you missing so many scenes? there's like 3 scenes missing in that.

it could be anything from dancing with Sage at the shots competition where you talk to Sage instead of going to Sarah.

another could be the one with Maya in where you go to the dorm to spend time with Maya instead of staying after the shots competition.

another scene that's missing in that screenshot is a scene with Sage after returning from the gym from spying on Chad. that could be the locked scene maybe?
also, you're missing the cum-petition scene for some reason. is your version up to date or something cause your scenes menu has a lot less than mine.....

It seems to me that is precisely the difference between a porn game and an adult visual novel: did the author have any ambitions beyond titillation? Based on everything I've ever heard about DPC, it sure sounds to me like he did. That would certainly explain that inane intro with Jill we all try to forget about, or the time and effort he spends on the soundtrack, or the copious mini-games he keeps adding. None of those are sexual content, but they're all frequently discussed aspects of the game (well, not Jill's intro, but the whole "dark" warning).

I remember there was a porn movie made back in the mid-2000s called "Pirates XXX". It had the biggest budget of any porn movie and actually built proper sets, had fighting action scenes, and at least tried to have a proper narrative. It also has a shit ton of sex because, at the end of the day, it's a porn movie.

This game might have a high production value and a decently written story with fairly well developed characters, but at the end of the day, it is a porn game, because when you it strip it all back to its basic function, its purpose is to titilate people with sex scenes.

DPC might have the ambition to elevate the level of VNs/games with BaDIK or to simply produce something they consider higher level than all the rest, but so too did the Pirates movie producers hope to elevate the porn movie industry, so just because they may have high ambitions doesn't mean that this isn't still just a porn game at its heart.

But did the Pirates movie have good acting? Would anyone watch it without the porn scenes? Because I don't find that the porn scenes are the motivation to playing BaDIK. Sure, we all joined for the porn, but many of us have stayed for the story/characters. I've said it before, if the porn scenes were toned down to an R rating, the game would be just as good and may even reach a wider audience. It might lose it's porn audience though...

Hey, I have that movie! And its sequel. But hold on, isn't the term Adult Visual Novel just a specific kind of porn game? The kind where you read text to get into the story, usually there are pictures, and you make periodic decisions to determine the outcome of the novel. They vary considerably, but that's the basic structure. I don't think the term has anything to do with any aspirations of quality or anything like that. It's just a specific kind of porn game.

Edit: It's like porn platformer, or porn puzzle game, or porn shooter. Adult visual novel is just a different category.

I just looked up that Pirates xxx on the IMDB, and compared its rating to the Pirates of the Caribbean series:

You keep asserting that any game with explicit sexual content is can only ever be "just" porn, but I see no evidence of that. At most it's a generalized observation based on the fact mainstream XXX movies turned out not to be very profitable and fell by the wayside. You might just as easily claim that any blockbuster can "only" be about special effects because the purpose of a blockbuster is empty spectacle. Spectacle is certainly important to blockbusters, but I don't think it's impossible for someone making a blockbuster to aim higher.

I think there are plenty of AVNs that have aspired to be more than just sex scenes with the bare minimum story stringing them together. There are millions of mainstream novels with very explicit sex scenes that are not defined by their sex scenes, it's a shame that as soon as a VN has explicit sex scenes it gets lumped into a category designated for fap material...

I'm not a huge fan of AL, but to me the sex scenes were more jarring than people burning to death in a house. It felt more like a melodrama than a porno and then BAM, tiny girl on old man cock...

BaDIK walks the tightrope a little more evenly, the setting and characters lend themselves to the porn environment a lot more easily, and the melodrama is still there in spades.

I can't come to think of anything else, than a fresh download once again in chance somethig been bored with download servers when you tried redownloading.(Although, if something got messed up on downloading, you normally get errors when unpacking archives) unpack to as close to root of harddrive as possible.
And.. Restart from beginning of game.. If still remember the story, and choices, use the skip function from start,
to where you're at...
Can pretty much fly through in half an hour or so..
Hopefully that'll work?
I know it sucks.. But man.. you've been through some hassle, and time, trying to fix it already at this point.
So what's another 30min to an hour if you like the VN..
