It doesn't change the social instinct of the character as written. As I demonstrated before Maya's first instinct is always to care for herself, the Sage example was just one of many to contrast her behavior.

Oh I agree about the lack of talent. But can you think of any game, in the hundreds and hundreds posted on this site, where the MC has to compete with a competent rival to win the LI? I'm not talking about those games where NTR is the focus, in most of those games the MC IS the Tybalt. But what we never see is an MC that has to outmaneuver an actual rival to win the hand of the LI. In fact in most of these games, even the most well written, the LI's just seem to fall onto the MC's cock, it's so easy to get the girl. Or you have to run a contrived maze of artificial roadblocks to get there.

Aboiut BaDIK, it´s not the case. Tremolo has some fun and witty dialogues, so DPC knows how to write a good character. I think that cartoonish rivals are a convention of the genre, like magic cocks and female bi eager to engage in a threesome everywhere. And also, laziness. Again, it´s easier to write a Tybalt than a professor Moriarty.
