Yeah, but this are social science were you can't truely isolate factors to study results. There is no lab and phenomenas are as complex that even if you could isolate them you will have a hell of a job geting anything clean. As someone with a college degree in engineering and natural science, I can politely object: there is an objective reality, there are stable constants in the universe, and the facts are real.
We all have different opinions, that's the way people are, but there are undeniable things in the world.
As such most of these "facts" (and i mean real ones like stadistics facts) are usually, a small fraction in the complexity of human issues that are talk about. A lot of them are not even trustworthy anyway.
I remember one argument were I saw in just one hours "facts" that completely change the narrative from one side to the other and back again. It was something like this:
A: You owe me 100 dollars (this is a fact).
B: But you got another debt with me for 150 (another fact).
C: But I already pay from that debt 75 (a third fact).
And this kind of things happen all the time.
It's actually quite easy. I don't know what exactly you mean beetween the many things Derek sayd (some has some ground others are just jokes, some even purposedly ridicule). But when it comes to Sarah, the first obvious thing is, at wich point the only aspiration of every human activity should be by force to make many? What Derek and Sarah say is hard to argue with. Derek has a position in biology, Sarah uses it too, but in a financial manner. She'll make a million dollars in a year on Onlyfans and it will be a strong argument against Maya's words that "women shouldn't use their bodies".
Personally, if I had the chance of being a poor Shakespeare or a rich Paulo Coehlo I choose to be a poor Shakespeare. You can disagree, of course, but you would never be able to prove I'm wrong couse it's a matter of personal choice.
Now going for Sarah, when she says: "It's nice to talk about equality and shit, but will any of this matter when we step outside of this classroom?". Well, the obvious question here is: matter for who?
For a lot of people across the history, equality was not a joke, was not a thing to talk about in college, or to make money from after college. Again a personal desition who has his roots in morality and personal interests, and there is nothing objective about such things.
Yeah I saw. Don't get it personal you neither. It was the general section of coments combined with some PTSD from past discusions in this thread.Don't take the last words personally, I like Maya too)
I like Sarah and Derek too. And I don't like modern day feminism neither.
