VN Ren'Py Being a DIK [v0.11.1] [DrPinkCake]

I was there. I thought DrPinkCake was the team until 2022. I played for 3 years and didn't know that this is one person, for me it was a shock that one dude is able to do such a giant job.
Although... the team can be considered beta testers who test his game a week before the release, N7 (his Discord admin) and his wife, whom he allows to play alpha in the development process.

Man I really don't know how that is even possible. We have a HUGE amount of devs working here alone, in teamwork, as happy marry couples... and even so, there's a tiny number of games that reach the quality of this one.
I don't really know how such a huge difference can even exist between all those VN with Ren'py, but man, the way this dude writes, code and characterize is something that should be learned in college, or at a premium course on Domestika or Coursera at least.
And with 9 episodes so far and only 4 years of development... i'm just sad thinking that we only have a bunch of devs that can work and well-produce a game as proffesionally as DPC does.
I hope this will change in the years coming...

Many criticize the DPC for not wanting to hire a team to speed up the development time, this was especially aggravated during the development of Ep.9 - it took a record 9 months and people started to rebel. DPC has a certain attitude, his character resembles Tommy, he is not a team player and prefers to do everything alone so that only his vision of the game works. So that outside interference doesn't change the project.
We have a very long wait ahead of us, but if he is confident in his abilities, then so be it.

so DPC offered these people an alternative in the form of Tiffany, Tara and Gina at the end of the last episode.

Meh, it's not the girls that are boring, but the sex scenes themselves. "Blowjob -> Anal -> Cum" is 80% of the content. We need something new but only Sage seems to be going in that direction. Maya/Josy will just be the same sex scenes but with them fucking the MC behind each other's back as to increase drama™. And Jill will probably die the moment you even suggest going anywhere near her ass. Maybe Bella will try something new (preferably involving the redhead student she's helping)...

Exactly man I don't know why I assumed it was Cali but then saw SNOW... I mean snow does occur in some regions of Cali but the landscapes reminds me of Norway or somewhere in EU but game takes place in US. Which state? that's the question.

My only complaint is that we dont really have any control on the character decisions.
I mean, I say "no" to the first girl, since she has a boyfriend and I dont want any trouble, but right after the character says "yes, he will continue seeing her" by his own accord?
No, I dont want to be a part of the DIK fraternity after they humiliated me, but the game forces me to become one?
If the game is designed to be this way, its better to not even ask for the player input, since its quite frustrating to see the character contradicting your decisions by his own accord.
That aside, its quite a good light novel game!

Don't spread lies, we players have controls of several important actions during the game. Tell me a game where you have 100% control of what happens... Just one... Every game has a plot that will be followed to the end, it's the story the writer wants to tell, after all.

Most if not all AVNs are "on rails" games/experiences. You get routes and flavors, but at the end of the day, it's Mass Effect 3-ish, makes choices that lead to picking the HUE in the end.

So it's mostly about the characters and the fun you have along the way.

Hell, MC ain't even the main narrative driver in the game(he's the vessel for the story). Maya is pretty much the main character at this point

Are drugs allowed in Cali? I think fans are trying to protect Quinn from eventual arrest by defending the idea that the city of Being a DIK is based on a city where the shit that Quinn does is allowed.

Eh, not really most of the states(including where I live) in US the use of Marijuana is legal (with age restrictions and not being on public and so on)...

Use of prescribed Medical Marijuana is legal and Quinn is dealing drugs which is Illegal in every state, no point in justifying it.

Dealing drugs is only legal if u pay taxes on it.

I believe that drug trafficking is not allowed anywhere, but in some countries and states there is a permitted and stipulated limit regarding the amount of drugs a person can carry (for personal use) before being considered a drug dealer, no?

Maybe the amount of drugs Quinn usually has with her isn't enough for her to get in trouble with the police. We don't know how the laws work in the state where Being a DIK takes place.
