If poorly implemented, this will break the immersion, fortunately I have an example of a game that does this well. I think if DPC wanted to make sound effects, he would do it well. This guy is good at almost everything in his game, albeit slowly.

For what it's worth, BaDIK originally had a tiny bit of voice acting. It was then removed, with justification that maybe it'll be added some day, once the game is completed. This way there's no risk that some VA can no longer continue voicing their character mid-development.
