It's the fake gun from behind the couch in Rusty's room placed there for the "who done it" scene decoration.

That's why I found it kind of funny, when you thought it was the real one.
Am I a bad person for not saying anything and just playing along?

At this point, I'm just too lazy to go fetch any specific scenes out.
So I'm glad Chip did the heavy lifting in getting those instead of me.
But I would have had a giggle, so maybe I'm not so glad Chip went and got them.
