Look: I could write a long essay for the hundredth time about why I think Zoey's critics are wrong and why she deserves a second chance, but why? People have their own tastes and they will stick to them, the only one who can change your opinion of a character is YOU. Except for the guy who wrote "I still think Zoey will die." which is a retarded cringe (none of the girls' arcs lead to potential death, with the possible exception of Quinn), everyone else is pretty chill guys.

To answer your question, it's unlikely that she'll overtake Sage unless DPC decides to ruin her character, like he did to Jill in season 2 or like he made Josy as uninteresting LI as possible.
Sage is a confident, caring and empathic girl inside, a real leader, a character who has built herself. Zoey still has to show herself and cope with her internal crisis, with her feelings. If she admits the choice of MC in favor of another girl - I will respect her even more as a strong person.
