To be fair as well, he has never specified that season 4 will get 4 episodes. I believe his last estimate was needing 14 - 16 to complete his story, so we may well only get a 2 episode season. I doubt it though...
Without really having season 3 it's hard to comment, like now we have that contract are we in endgame? Given rinoas kidnapping is quinns empire about to fall and again we are in endgame.
I mean it's all hypothetical, and I know we all though we are getting to endgame, we are not quite there, there's still a few plots needing resolved, but at the sametime, some of them can be sorted by season 3 end (if they are done to a reasonable manner would be yet to be seen)
My point is as we start closing storylines, the complexity of the multiple arcs reduces, we get back to a similar, though not quite the same, situation we were in in season 1. There won't be that many balls being juggles now, though he will still want that render count increased.
Yes I know each episode has gotten bigger in scope, longer in dev time, etc etc so you can joke all you like about episode 12 needing 18 months, episode 13 needing 24 and so on, but at the end of the day we don't really know what he has planned going forward. Just what he's told us in the Q&As which on my last check was he needs at least 14,after that it's hazey and season 4 won't be typical. Heck we might just get a barrage of endings in season 4 cause everything else was tied up in 3 (doubtful as if this one's Xmas, I'm seeing episode 12 being valentines day, we will still have easter and or school year end)
