I would tend to agree, except for three hard, cold facts:
1) he completely used and lied to Sage, in a rather evil fucking way.
2) he participated in, and allowed, the Alpha beatdown of Troy (his fucking BOYFRIEND!!!) and stealing Tremolo's guitar.
3} he thinks Dawe is "a really good guy" (WTF? a homophobic moron that talks shit and causes problems for his boyfriend?)

I agree, Chad is not a bad guy. He's a despicable guy. He spent years lying, deceiving, using, and manipulating another human because he's too big of a pussy. Not only that, he bullies and assaults MC. Fuck Chad!

Chad's problem is that he is ironically a coward. He is as much of a coward as Stephen Burke. Chad had everything to be a good person, but his cowardice speaks louder.
Because of his cowardice, what he did to Sage was truly cruel. Her time at B&R meant nothing since she dedicated part of her time to Chad - someone who never gave a damn about her. Chad didn't even have the courage to admit in the end that he was in love with Troy and that he only used her as a cover.
I don't want to play devil's advocate here, but... we're not sure about that... I guess? Maybe Chad wasn't present at the time? But if he was... attacking Troy just to save face in front of the Jocks was cold and incredibly lacking in empathy. Once again Chad shows his cowardly side.
Chad thinking Dawe is a nice guy is what condemns Chad as a jerk instead of a nice guy. Even Quinn with all her flaws, sins and sadistic side of tormenting people despises Dawe. That says a lot.
