With both Jill and Josy/Maya, you're being offered a serious, committed relationship with someone(s) you have strong romantic feelings for. You can turn that down to pursue the possibility of a serious, committed relationship with Bella or with Sage, but not to just keep fucking around with anyone willing to ride your dick.

In other words, yes, that you don't immediately start a relationship if you pick Others is exactly the reason you can't pursue that after getting serious with Jill and/or Josy/Maya, but you can choose between any of your serious (or potentially serious) relationships.

With Bella or Sage, you don't yet have that sort of romantic commitment, and don't know if they'd go for a serious relationship rather than staying officially free agents who happen to get sexy together.

I think it's far from confirmed, but there is evidence to support the idea (Magnar no longer being interested in buying your notes because he's found something better).

It's definitely plausible, but DPC could easily decide it should be someone else instead.

You have kind of the same situation with two girls you can get on the Others path though: Nicole and Quinn. I don't count Lily because it's only made clear MC is thinking about a more serious relationship after "the choice", before it I got the feeling he only said "maybe" to get rid of her for that moment. But yeah, it's probably the issue of since they're side girls, DPC didn't want to include them for "the choice", even though they would also be acceptable choices next to Bella and Sage.
