A stable family? What do we know about them?
Almost nothing.
We know that their eldest daughter passed away, for reasons unknown.
We saw her running away, or trying to run away from home.
As far as I can tell, this doesn't happen in stable families, unless the child suffers from mental illness.
So there's reason to believe that not everything is so good in this family.
They're hiding something. Maybe something really serious.
For this reason, they tried to "protect" Jill in some way from what they considered a "harmful" environment.
And her naivety is the result of their efforts.

They are unrelated AFAIK, earlier they were supposed in the same verse, with BAD being a prequel but later it got scrapped, this I read on reddit long time ago.

That was my understanding too. I was wondering where Chillout1984 was getting his info from. I wasn't aware it was confirmed anywhere that Jonas and Liam were DIKs.

IIRC, Melody (from Melody), her stepfather was a DIK, but that's a completely unrelated shout out.

Rusty created the DIKs, Jonas and Liam were also both DIKs, so it would take place at least 1 year after the current year. If they are related however in a way that the current cast are either AL's parents or uncles/aunts, it will increase the amount of years significantly.

Episode 11 and Lana's flashbacks will tell us more, I think Lana just fell into bad crowd, maybe had an overdose and it caused her death. That's why her parents became super protective towards Jill and that's why she is raising some sort of awareness campaign and has hard aversion towards Drugs.

They were DIKs, just not the same DIKs. Jonas and Liam tell a little backstory where they are mentioned as being part of a fraternity called the DIKs. It was originally intended for BAD to be a prequel to AL, but DPC decided to set it in an another universe when he realized how much he was limited narratively by going the prequel path.

I also avoided Melody like the plague years ago so I'm unfamiliar with that mention.

I've read that a couple of years ago, DPC said that BAD and AL don't take place in the same universe because that would restrict him in his way of writing. According to a review I read (I need to replay the game again to confirm it, it's been almost 5 years and I only completely played it once) the main characters Jonas and Liam however were both DIKs at B&R in their universe.

Do you people think that when DPC is completely done with BAD (so he doesn't have to worry about writing the story anymore) he might change his mind and say that it does share the same universe? If so, do you think any character from AL might be related to current B&R college members? These make imo the most sense purely based on looks:

Tremolo > Jonas (Jonas doesn't really look like MC, but he does look a lot like Neil)
Jacob > Liam
Heather > Hedwig
Sage > Angela
Aerieth > Leah
Jill > Melissa
Lily > Ana
I can't think of a good enough comparison for Megan.

I know it would be too big of a coincidence if all of them were related in this way, but it might certainly be possible if some of them are and there relatives found eachother.

It's not that uncommon for writers to bring their works together in retrospect, that's why I think it might also happen here, no matter how small that chance is.

To compare the Pinkcake Universe with, say, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we could describe both BaD and AL as both taking place in the same universe, but in different timelines.

I understand that that is currently (and will probably always be) the case. That's why in my original comment I asked that what if DPC comes back on that decision when BAD is completely done and retroactively makes it the same timeline again, how (some of) the characters of AL could connect to BAD on a family relationship level and what my guesses would be based on looks.
