its easier to branch the MGs separate stories if they intertwine as there is no risk for cheating (or there is little to no risk at least) since you need to "commit" to them in the end of s2. so having all main girls be part of same plot with branching forcing you to go down that route only if you are loyal is the easiest "railroad" writing style there is
