as huge a pain as it is, it's still a bereavement from at least 3 years earlier, how is that more important than the fact that Bella now still doesn't know if she has a husband or not?I honestly don't think knowing his fate and whereabouts are as important as the circumstances surrounding why he left in the first place. Bella's drama can simply be about her unresolved trauma without suddenly having James show up after 3 years missing.
from the way it's told James' seems more like an obligation than an escape. the only hints of the past refer to betrayals not more guilt.
the closed room has only one way to be more important than James (if not related to his fate) and that is for Bella to go completely out of her mind with shock
however there are at least 16 months between now and the answer
