Josy definitely started out more daring, but over the course of the story Maya has been trying more and more things while Josy has been staying pretty much the same not exploring new things. Yeah, but those were the ones I believe that had the least amount of issues with the DIKs (that we know of) themselfs. Tara was just helping her friends, Kylie did it to avenge her sister but Vinny isn't a DIK anymore. Only one we don't know why she helps them is Penny, but that's probably also because she's friends with Kylie.
