As i said, its fictional, but MC talks about the fact that Zoey was heading to the "West Coast" so its clearly kinda far away from that but still managable by train, so nto the east coast. In the last two episodes it got cold outside with snow and they went even skiing... its not that cold mostly at that time in the US with lots of snow other than the Northside... That much Snow in early december (before Christmas)? Not that common either. Has to be more in the North... pretty far away from the west coast but still reachable by train within a days ride, more North than south, some Mountains too and ski-resorts not that far away and its just a assumption (like everything regarding this topic) but the ocean is not near either... Wyoming maybe? Could be a good fit for all those criterias.
