regarding maya thing. Maya is in really bad situation that she cant or dont know how to escape from. Josy PUT herself in bad situations and blame others for it. Josy had a chance to speak up but chose to be silent and just go with maya, breaking MC's heart. and when she learned the truth about in just how much shit maya really is and realized the difficulties that her relationship with maya go beyond just homophobic father and is something that cant be easily fixed she quickly shifted and was willing to jump the ship. started rediscovering herself, trying to figure out who she is without maya, finding hobbies and things she can do that does not involve maya, starts hanging out with MC more...
for me its like i was capable of ignoring all this as i understand people/characters arent flawless and everyone has baggage. but then the talk between maya and josy after they drink and get tipsy/drunk and truth comes out to open, that scene was eye opening for me that josy is just unsalvagable for me (not as a character, just as a character for me. i am not saying others are wrong for liking her, i am just saying i am type of person who CANT like characters like josy).

EDIT: and i feel like people are misunderstanding what i mean by saying josy is selfish. Being selfish does not necessary mean ignoring others.
For example, someone can donate milions of dolars to homeless. that is in no means selfish act. BUT it can be selfless act done by selfish person depending on motivations. If only reason you donate money to someone is not because you want to help others but so that you can feel better about yourself then you are still selfish person. If only reason why you would donate milions to charity is TAX EVASION, then i would not call that selfless act. its better than crime, but its not really selfless.
So i am not saying Josy makes selfish actions, i am saying she is making "selfless" acts for selfish reasons.

Yes she stays with maya, that is not selfish act. it shows that she is willing to support maya and try to fight for their relationship even when it is tough and not smooth sail. But that act is not so selfless when you learn only reason she does it is because she is afraid of being lonely so it felt safer to stick with maya than take risks.

Yes Josy trying to save money on costumes is not selfish in materialistic meaning of the word. But the fact she only does it so that maya can get out of her bad situation so that their relationship can become better does mean she is doing it to make her feel better in the future rather than something selfless that is good for maya.

and so on...
