on one hand, she has that old cat lady vibe going on which is common trope with librarians. On the other hand she herself is not giving me librarian vibe at all. point bella for me
Subjective interpretation. We're scoring academic quality, not "I prefer this look or hair color based on job."
Physical sciences > informational sciences.
Hot for teacher or hot for librarian? Bella and Nora can do both. Nora can simply do more (science and art.)
Winner: Nora
Second thing would be jill's friendship. Others might not give a fuck but i would prefer bella as librarian for jills sake. point bella for me again.
Bella as Librarian for Jill's sake? ...um...what?
Mostly main plot. There's really not much exposition on Bella or Nora's relationships, but Jill is certainly a point in favor.
Bella: +1
But not Bella's other relationships, like James. Being technically married and emotionally damaged isn't a point in her favor.
Bella: -1
In that spirit, MC's relationship with Bella was MC being a random drunken goof, and Bella just going along with it. This is pretty much DPC putting Bella on this path. Considering how closed off Bella is, it's then a form of emotional dependency.
Both MC and Noras' is by choice. And the player has to choose a series of proper Swyper and dialogue options. Isabella is railroaded for not doing things with others.
Winner: Nora
Third thing. Would Nora let MC crash at her place once he finds out about Maya and Josy? And follow-up question, would MC even want to spend unknown ammount of time in his "current" state (for that time period) sharing his personal space with that shitty cat?
Plot related, so yes she would.
MC could use a distraction, good or bad.
Opinionated follow-up question about cat aside, and judging from how quick was Nora to bail on her fun time with MC once she found out he is one of her students, i feel like she would be too conflicted to let him sleep in her house where Bella did not just let him sleep in but also lowkey helped him figure his shit out and personally i think she helps him fix his moral compass a bit. another point for bella.
In a theoretical? If we're switching Bella with Nora? Well, they wouldn't have been fooling around in the first place as Bella would've, like in her house in Ep 2, or the library in Ep 3. She would be drastically different with a "do it properly" Nora. She'd have to come to terms with her job and potential relationship, do the whole rule book thing, talk to the dean, maybe even switch jobs like Cathy. She's like Jill but in Bella's body. There would be a whole conflict between job and personal relationship.
Considering Nora isn't a mean person and genuinely likes the MC, she'd at least let him stay over.
Forth thing. Would she take risks that Bella is taking for MC? Whether it is joining halloween party, or the whole "dating a student" moral dilemma... and i honestly can see this go both ways so point for bella and point for nora i guess.
As per main plot in her now being a MG and being on that path? Yes, she'd be at the party.
I can't see Nora breaking the rules to have a relationship, but that would also be MG stuff. And if she does do it, it's not because the MC is a "breath of fresh air", or that she emotionally depends upon him. It's because she makes a conscious decision that this is good and healthy for her.
Last thing. Do i think Nora would be cool "friend" to hang around with when on other girls playthroughs? Would she be making underwear parties in her house and invite all the main girls to drink and have fun with? Especially if one of them is cockblocking her chances for having MC's babies? i think this is the hardest no, so again point Bella.
Nora was also wild when she was younger. Bella comes across as much more reserved and less likely to be having such a party and behaviour. (Maybe if it we were on Bella's path, and MC woke up those feelings...but she's always like this, somehow.) But again, DPC said so, so Bella and the MG's do whatever the story needs.
It makes sense with Maya and Josy from the previous episode, getting help from Jill, and thus hanging out at Bella's (technically they could've hung out anywhere). Sage is potentially along for the ride. But because of Sage, this party (and then the Christmas party) happens.
Now, lets assume Nora and Bella only swap their involvement in MC life and not their job proffesion. So to explain what i mean. Bella remains Jills friend and librarian and Nora remains the science teacher and its plot that actually changes to have MC get close to Nora instead of Bela in early episodes (easiest way for this to happen would be to just skip the parts where MC is in library and have him take science classes from get go)... would that change anything and maybe potentially give nora more point from my perspective?
Actually no i dont think it would, if anything we would lose the sex scene that we currently have as she would never agree to fuck a student she is teaching.
There would obviously be an entire arc of Nora choosing to be with the MC, the same way Bella has hers.
I guess after long consideration i would not say Nora is supperior to Bella in any way nor better written character... sorry
I don't think she's better written; I haven't really thought of that. In terms of making characters in general, it's normal for writers to create secondary characters based on main ones.
But for what she is, as a character? She is the Bella archetype without the problems. (From a writer's perspective, one could argue she's inferior.) She's superior academically, emotionally, physically (benches 250), and practically. The MC prefers her gym exercise than Bella's yoga. She's the most normal and healthy of the teachers, being the ideal Hot for Teacher trope done properly. She's got Zoey and Jacob's artistic skills. She's the "Other's DIK redemption route", the ultimate prize in the dating game; also, the female fantasy of taming the wild male, which appears to be where Sage is going, and the story in general seems to be going, too, from DIK to CHICK, or at least neutral. (A coming of age theme in a...college drama?) She was wild in her youth, but now wants something serious; something Bella is still coming to terms with. Her main conflict is her not wanting to break the moral rules of students and teachers, yet still being interested in the MC. And when she figures out he is a student, she immediately breaks it off, as a mature adult should.
Yes, she's a pipe dream within a fantasy, but an obvious dream. Which is why she sticks out so much on Others.
There is not much exposition on her, but that is an issue of content for not being a MG, and this game being
milked like the bloated mess it is with too many characters.
