You play as a girl for a short episode. After Season 2, only once. Takes maybe an hour.

You only play the main character's ex girlfriend in an Interlude in the middle of the game and it's skippable. For the rest of the game, you play a male protagonist.

is it still the case in this game that you can't play a full harem ending? i.e. player choices eventually lock in some girls rather than others?

Sadly (at the moment and I don't think it will change because it would ruin the story) no, there is no harem ending, although there is the possibility of being with more than one girl and I think I speak for half the forum in saying that we dream of a Bella-Jill love trio ending.
