It was one of the first higher quality 3D AVNs created, it has mostly great characters, it has a great soundtrack and the dev's previous game also was among the best AVNs of its time. Those are probably the main reasons why it's still so popular, even if at least a dozen other AVNs with overall better quality (at least better story) have been released since season 1 came out.

The official walkthrough mostly is safe to use if you're going for the more tricky to get (sex) scenes, like the ILY Sage scene or the short Cindy scene at the end of the panty party. Both are very easy to miss even by only making one or a few mistakes.

Not really. Compared to many other AVNs this game's original playthrough is quite mediocre and the freeroams are tiresome going in blind. It's best to just go for the sex scenes you want and laugh at the comedic situations.
