The only response I’m going to qualify here is that much of the world has moved on from vanilla. Many, if not most people like variety. The same vanilla all the time gets to be bland and boring. The very point of these multi-path stories is to explore different branches and scenarios. Things you can’t or wouldn’t necessarily try in real life. If you get stuck on one thing you are going to miss much of what most of these stories have to offer. This AVN spoke to me because I personally identified with and recognized most of the character types in it. I grew to “care “about characters I didn’t particularly find attractive because of their personalities (through DPC’s writing). I actually found that whatever surface-level cosmetic “flaws” disappeared the more I grew to like the characters. But, then again, I’m one of those folk that likes variety. Sometimes, vanilla is nice, but add some toppings or another flavor and the experiences are limitless!
We seem to be talking about very different things. I not only love variety, I demand it, but if you poop in twenty cones, that's not variety, and even if it is, I'm not going to lick it.

I can think of a game that seems to be close to BaD in popularity, and I like the girls far more there, but I hate the males, the writing, and the fact that there's way too much resemblance between girls, who all have dead eyes among other things. Clones are the last thing I want.

I think the point I was trying to make, is that I was a little like you (a long time ago). I, too, once had an overly specific ideal girl type. But, I’ve evolved, grown, matured, and changed (as many of us do). I can’t even begin to pretend to explain to you why I like the things I do. I’m not sure too many here can? I just do.
As someone else pointed out, all of that stuff you are asking about is surface level superficial things. When I like or care about someone, take Riona for example, after exploring the game I don’t really see the tats and piercings anymore. It’s all part of who she is. It’s the personality and story arc I follow.
We can philosophically debate beauty on this thread all we want for a fun diversion. But, at the end of the day, most aren’t playing BaDIK for certain looks or character types alone. We care about the stories and the characters. Well, most of them. Well, maybe not the oily manatee. Well, some of us do, IDK. Y’know, variety, spice of life and whatnot. Anyway…
No further explanations needed.;)

This week, I began by writing dialogue and posing static renders.

Other than that, I have been working hard on something special that I can't talk about yet.

The big news this week is that I have replaced a very important PC. For the duration of Being a DIK, I have used a master PC for my work. This master PC had my development environment set up in great detail and controlled all my other systems. It was responsible for all storage, compilation, and my day-to-day tasks. I've basically done everything related to Being a DIK with this PC.

Aside from the occasional hardware parts I've swapped, I've been looking to replace this PC for a couple of years, and this week, I did it. Consequently, I needed to clone my master PC to its replacement and upgrade the software to handle the 5090 GPU I installed. It's been very important to spend time on this and to be meticulous, ensuring that it works in the same way that I'm familiar with. Setting it up has been smooth, and the difference in performance is night and day. The render speed is great, and image and video post-processing is super-fast (roughly three times as fast as my old master PC). It will be a joy to work on this PC.

As I mentioned earlier, I will continue to upgrade my hardware periodically. This particular upgrade took a bit longer to set up than a standard render slave. Hopefully, it will last a long time.

Next week, I will work on animations again and attempt to optimize rendering for 5090 GPUs. I'm very excited about that.

4090 wasn't compatible with DAZ for nearly a year after release. 5090 is since May, and to get a 5090 is very easy. Sure, the first two months after release they were hard to get, but now you can get them everywhere.
