Eh, it's "drama" and how the world's built it's fine. It's meant to be representative of a much more serious organisation and Quinn's been essentially stealing their money. Also as far as the "torture" went, so far all that's implied is Riona was roughed up and had her piercings forcibly removed which is probably the sort of thing that would scare someone like Quinn (someone that thinks they're a hard "bad girl" but in reality is a 20 something with daddy issues).

Given this is a "world" where a college grants officer is inventing scholarships for a student-run prostitution ring and despite how much everyone sleeps around the most serious STD is crabs, it's not the most unbelievable thing they've done.

Well it's not that surprising. Vinny is a lowlife deep in the criminal world (as far as the game's world is concerned that is) so would catch a serious punishment. Meanwhile Rio and Quinn are college kids who think they're hardcore when no, they're 20 something college kids who are pretty easy to scare off and doing something more serious to would just attract unwanted attention.

Also, it is genuinely interesting what DPC counts as "spoilers" when they're putting out a preview of Rio returning which I'd argue is a pretty big fucking spoiler of a moment from the next episode.

I'd say they are more shocked of the room as a whole at first and then they focus more on the details which add to the shock. To MC the picture of his mother would overtake everything else while Maya would simply be shocked on general terms.

What I'm saying is, if they would be that dedicated to the child of their friend they would also keep in contact with said friend in the first place.

It's a scandal to the family and whatever other high society people her parents are close with. Most people wouldn't care about that. Most people certainly wouldn't view Lyn and Neil as "assholes" for running of to be with one another. Maybe her parents would go to the length of saying "Lyn is dead (to us)" but not "Lyn is dead (she's actually in the ground). The game is based in the U.S. not Saudi Arabia.
We don't know how secret her relationship with Neil was (or if it was a secret in the first place) but I doubt they would've been able to cover it up.

I'm not gonna argue about the details of eloping because the point is they left her family to be with one another,
they didn't go in hiding. Which means Lyns friend should've been able to contact her and Neil. Lyn equally would likely have been in contact with them.

It's not unlikely DPC didn't really think that part of the story through.

Firstly Riona's face probably looked way worse day one and secondly yes seeing your friend getting beat up with piercings rip off is more than enough to evoke a strong reaction. What did you expect ? A glasgow smile ? Obviously she had to remain relatively clean, just to stay attractive.

The thing is though, it does highlight how much her persona was a front. Originally she was terrified and going to run away before swallowing her pride and accepting that she isn't actually "all that" and phoned the cops like a student probably would.
