I think Josy and Maya staying together is decided by player choices even off their path. It will add to the branching yes, but it wouldn't really make that much of a difference. It'll be more or less what we have now if you broke up with them to be with a different MG, you get different variants of scenes where Josy is mad at you. So you'll get glimpses of them being broken up or still together here and there, but it won't bloat up the future episodes.

Interesting, there are some choices outside their path that could make this possible.

It could be as simple as whether or not you get the documents. Ep 11 already set it up. If you get the documents Maya is free and if you don't Maya gives up. Josy is about to run out of steam and Maya needs to be the supportive one for a change. If Maya is free she has the energy and they stay together. If Maya has given up they break up.

There are a lot of other choices that could also be factors similar to Patrick's suspicion points, but they could also be a deciding factor in which one of them tries to get together with MC if they break up on the Others path. Or which of them joins a threesome or becomes a cheating option on an MG path.

On the other hand, afaik most US colleges completely shut down over the holidays and students leave, or even have to leave, which would make a party on New Year's Eve difficult. It depends how well DPC does his research. I think it's going to be a party to celebrate the new year, but in January, not on NYE. So specifically a New Year's Eve party - NO

I think they break no matter what, given the very poor state of their relationship even when you get the documents.
