You need to have perma-DIK or perma-CHICK affinity, meaning you've made 11 major choices in one direction. Once you have permanent affinity, then you can start making Neutral choices. If you get it before the dorm party, then your first Neutral option is to let Derek get revenge against Ron by himself. After that is the option to put the exam cheats back where you found them.

So that there would still be a choice. You can have perma affinities in ep 7, but those choices just get forced on you which just sucks. Obviously once you established MC's personality to one extreme the other should be closed off, but it's boring to never again have another option. So the other extreme is replaced with the neutral choice. At midterms if you are too Chick to cheat or too DIK to flush the papers, you can be neutral and leave them be. At the dorm party you may be too Chick to join Derek in his revenge or too DIK to talk him out of it, but you can be neutral and leave Derek to his revenge.
