The thing is I tend to lump the Interlude with Ep 9 because their own justification was to build in a new version of Ren'Py for Season 3 IIRC. Combining that with disruptions in Ep 11 such as the death of someone close to them and a holiday as well, that leaves Season 3 typically taking around the 12 month mark of active development.
The reason is more simple why it takes longer: more content. More renders, more animations, more dialogues, mean more handwork with preparing all of this. And the main thing of every IT worker: code.
It all takes more time because of content quantity - humans simply have limits of work, compared to hardware.

Hey, all. It's been a rough week for me. The flu I woke up with last Friday got pretty intense, and I'm still feeling some of the symptoms today. But it has been going in the right direction since Tuesday, and I have been able to work since the end of the weekend. It reminds me a lot of how I felt the time I caught COVID, so I'm not ruling out that it's a similar bug again.

Bleh! I'll be fully back on track in a few days from now, and I am working as normal now, so that's good.

I finished the special scene I had been working on, and with that, I had caught up on all writing for completed scenes. Since then, I have played the episode, fixed things here and there, planned and focused on writing dialogue. I will continue focusing on writing in the upcoming week.

The overall progress of episode 12 development at the moment is the following.

  • Static renders are probably around 30-35% done for the episode.
  • Posed animations are higher and estimated at 40-45%.
  • I have barely started with music and sound effects work; it will wait for later.
Here is an image showing the episode 12 timeline and how the scenes with completed art are distributed throughout the episode.

As you can tell, I've primarily been working chronologically, with some exceptions here and there. I have created a lot of canon content for the episode so far.

That graph is new. Very misleading though, especially given his own figures. Fuck me, I might actually be dead before the game comes out :HideThePain:

Damn it I literally had that typed out and ready to post :ROFLMAO:

I don't think it will be related to the dorm party blackout. For one even if MC himself doesn't remember everyone else would. If he actually did anything massive, people would have at least made fun of it. After all the girls have made fun of his Pink Rose blackout a few times.

It's more likely to be something Tybalt can use as legal evidence against MC and the DIKs. Or what he thinks he can use as evidence. Or it may simply be a promise to give Tybalt evidence in return for which he has to do a favour. That favour then somehow becomes the preps' downfall.

I see it as extremely optimistic to think that the nerds' revenge would be tied up in the next episode. We've barely found out they were behind the letters the alpha's got. They presumably manipulated the Cathy situation, but even that is yet to be confirmed. Getting both the details of their plan and the closure of the storyline in one episode is way too fast. There are plenty of other things for ep 12 to work with while the nerd plot ferments.

The wall is a bit tricky. The helmet most definitely is there if MC wins Hell Week. He also comments on Rooster that he will put Quinn's picture on his wall. So the wall definitely exists within the story rather than as a sort of fourth wall break. On the other hand he is shown to carry Jill's picnic picture in his wallet. He presumably needs to have his gym card on him when he goes there. Same with the VIP pass. So some of the stuff is not there. At least not on a constant basis.

Simple explanation why the girls don't see this stuff: They don't go all the way to his study area when the bed is so much more interesting. In time they most certainly would, but at this point the time covered by the game is about four months. Not counting flashbacks. It's not that weird for the girls to have ignored the study area.
There's always a few parts of the episodes where time lapses and we get just a little snip of things that happened during these gaps. It's plausible to think that, if on the Jill path, between the BBQ and Christmas decorating time, she was in his room a few times. And at least one of those times, she saw where he studies.

It'll never be 17... There's no chance there is 6 more episodes worth of content left.

Im in the camp most things get tied up in 12, leaving season 4 tying up the rest and having a few epilogues, 15 is possible, but 14 is more likely.
I got it wrong: it was
The 15-17 was the previous estimate. :HideThePain:

She wouldn't have noticed this at any point?
Dude you got the fake ID from Tommy. You had better start hoping Jill won't notice MC breaking the law :KEK:

ETA experts: based on this numbers, is release date unchanged?

Also, how can you tell the graphic is dubious?

So, if I only play the side character's route, I will end up with Lily?
Not quite. See, you can end up with Lily if you chat with her at the start of Ep 9 and then choose to roll with her. But! You can be with Rio if you give her $$$ or more in Ep 5 when confronting her and unlock her lewd scene at the HOTs party in Ep 7 (her threesome with Camila is not relevant I think), and then chat with her at the start of Ep 9.

but I have been playing this since just before I turned 18

None of these except the watermelon. I couldn't eat watermelon for a couple months after that scene. :KEK:
I'm more talking about niche things that actually help. Things like Tommy's advice on party planning is genuinely really helpful.

Its taken 6 months to get to about 33% of static renders. We are going to need another 2 lots of that before we get to 100% so another 12 months. Obviously, as the animations complete and his machines free up, he will have more rigs to bring that to 100% faster, but we haven't even taken into account the music hes not started yet, any unplanned scenes, testing or other unforeseen things. For now, 12 months from now seems the best estimate.

When people stop thinking about the release date of the game, they will be much happier.

If everything goes well, around this time of next year, we'll all get to play the game.

Personally I think with as popular as the game is he needs to get some help even if its just making the art… if it takes 10 more years to finish…

The finishing touches, perhaps. Releases should be as close together as possible.
He has mentioned that at least the release on Steam will be a few weeks to a couple of months after the release of episode 12.

I agree that they should be as close together as possible, but it seems DPC doesn't think so himself.

I'll believe it when I see it, so in over a year's time. :ROFLMAO:

The more time passes between the two releases, the less hype there is.

He's probably hoping for double income: People who aren't monthly patrons and only become a member for 1 month when a new ep is released will both do that again with ep 12 because they don't want to wait for so long and they will also buy it on Steam when it's finally released :BootyTime:

Meh, that has got to be the least of his worries. Like, he kinda solved the W11 issue, hasn't reported on new (or persisting) DAZ 3D alpha bugs, caught up with writing for all completed scenes and "returned" to work normally despite the flu.

So yeah... Looks like 12 months is still best case scenario, since the renders queue and that whole DAZ 3D alpha bugs are bottlenecking progress, and nevermind unforeseen circumstances. For the life of me I can never remember what is the ETA and always end up asking :KEK:
