Maybe. We see a lot of marital drama between Jade and Stephen, so it wouldn't be too weird to follow a non-MG Bella's story with James returning. Stephen has story relevance though, hence the extra focus.

James is dead. I know because I hunted him down and killed him myself. The authorities should be able to find his remains by the next episode so Bella can move on.

Personally, if those empty variables are no longer needed, I would remove them from the code afterward for a cleaner codebase.

Maybe. Though it's not "afterward" until the game is complete - or possibly when the transfer file for the next season excludes that variable.

There's also the question of how to check whether a given variable has been used at any point or not because removing a variable you just thought wasn't used is a good way to introduce a bug to the game.
