The "boy" calling thing, at least from my American English background, is seen as a sign that the person calling you boy doesn't respect you. They are looking down on you, like an adult does to a child due to the childs ill manners or whatever else.

Getting caught naked outside does warrant some scolding, so Bella calling MC "boy" there made sense to me.
