I get the vibe her families maiden name is to do with the college. Not sure how I feel about Jill and Rusty being related. Rusty is one of the few guys in DIK's that has been a pretty good guy. And I think both Rusty and Jill should have their own story that is not connected.

I don't know about "rushed", but I did feel some of the transitions were a bit disjointed. The previous episodes had a better "flow" to them.
