The main links in the OP are for the 0.5.2 version of the game which is unpacked and won't work with the patch.
For the clean 0.5.0 version, you can either get it with the torrent (first quoted post) or by checking some of the following links (second quoted post):
Once you have that, then all you'll need to do is get the 3GB update patch when it's released.
You also shouldn't need to play the whole game again from the start as long as your saves are clean, which means that you didn't make saves after you adjusted stats and variables with the mod or using the Ren'py console. If you have done that, then yes, you will need to run through the game cleanly to start Ep 6, otherwise you'll be fine.

So many theories that range from bizarre to batshit crazy, but it could easily just be all of James's things that he left behind.
Some people might find that anti-climactic, but it wouldn't surprise me if the contents of the locked room turn out to be totally innocuous and that this was just DPC trolling people by making them think it was something darker and more sinister.

In Ch. 5, when MC was looking under the locked door, I was so prepared for a jump scare with Bella or Jill standing right there when he got up and turned around. Very happy DPC didn't resort to that trope.

Bella still cares about her husband and is holding on his memories by keeping some of his stuff and whatnot, i know some people do this so i don't think it's as ridiculous as it may seem.
I'd love it to be a DPC joke because another Leah would ruin the game for me.

That's to be expected when we have this issue for many, many updates.
Memories of something they loved and did together, doesn't have to be clothes. Could be some valuable collection, book collection and all that stuff i don't know, and it's not like the place is locked with a safe code maybe it's just that Bella doesn't really trust the MC yet? just because they've been intimate ( lust ) doesn't mean she'll tell him everything about her.
Yes that's on DPC for not moving the story forward.

if they were books (or something like that) there was no need to rush the door shut, Bella would tell MC not to enter that room and that was it, she wouldn't have to give any explanation. her gesture creates far more questions than a room full of books
