Also, Maya's Dad could be anything from a school janitor to a freaking astronaut and be homophobic. He doesn't have to have a specific career that make his views any more plausible.

i used to do it all the time actually! one of my best performances was calling a girl Joana when i knew that it was the name of her friend! my friend had told me he had met the most beautiful woman in the world but he was hesitant to try and ask her out for coffee!

So i recognized her and went in to mess with her friend by saying:

Ana : my name is not joana, who are you?
Me: sorry i´m friends with xxxx and he told me he had met the most beautiful girl in the world and her name was Joanna, since you´re both using his company uniform i just connected the dots!

Also i doubt Maya father can be a low paying worker if he can co sign for 2 college loans (or pay one and put the other on a loan), if he can take time to go with his kids on summer vacations like Maya claims (gives the vibe that he is important enough to make his own vacation schedule) and he can afford a RV and that stuff is expensive although it pays for itself in 10 years of saving in hotels!

So, based on that logic, Maya's Dad could easily be something like a successfully self-employed plumber and be able to put both his kids through college.

His "scar" is just part of the skin map. DPC could come up with a story for it, but I doubt they will because, once again, it's just a skin map.
