Yeah, for us it seems a very long time. But DPC is doing these games for a living. And I'm sure he wants to do it as long as he can so he doesn't have to go back to a regular day job. Getting paid for what you love to do is the best job you could have. Though I do hope it won't be a regular thing that 2 episodes get released per year.
It likely will be a regular thing now. I don't see DPC reducing the size of episodes. Either they'll keep getting bigger or they'll plateau at some point, hopefully to the level of this one.

5 seasons = 20 episodes
one episode took 5 months
episode 7 will likely come out in april.
so that means 13 episode left which means it will be 13 x 5 months = 5 years 5 months from end of april 2021
last episode will fall on sept 2026
If we assume he managed to finish the game in 4 seasons that would be 20 months before sept 2026
which would be around nov 2024. Honestly DPC has done almost everything right on the game and it does not seem
like draggy in any way.

3 Seasons is 12 episodes. We're looking at 4-5 months for eps right now. Tad longer than 3-4 years, alas.
Don't worry Mark you'll make it :)

I think it's more of the mental state I am concerned about; between my moods, meds, and keeping my bipolar stuff in check. But thinking about waiting is daunting. I mean, a commitment to a "video game girl" and a game in general, until a new decade, seems almost impossible. I'll be replaying Acting Lessons (just finished going through it again, still needing tissues) a billion times by then.

DPC is a wonderful dev and creator for sure. It's worth the wait, just have to be very dedicated, and very patient. Much like the game and the MC, Jill is certainly worth the wait. I really must be out of my fucking mind! :ROFLMAO:

Thats the hope. I mean, irregardless, DPC is going to hit a critical mass problem at some point, where he's just got too much to do facing time problems. And unless he loses his passion and quits, or decides to finally hire someone(s), a plateau for game size/dev time has to happen.

Also on a sidenote, I'm sure other game devs are paying attention to Being a DIK and trying to make games as good as this. Even if we wait for years for Being a DIK to end, I'm sure there will be new games which will be just as good maybe even better than BaDIK.

this current cycle is optimum for DPC if he exceeds the time more.
People will start complaining
and things aren't always the same in one's life.
at some point he will need an extra hand

College Kings seem to be an exact clone of Being a Dik. Just some tweak here and there. But that game is gaining alot of support with a really short period but its still far away from Being a Dik in term of animation.

I'd be saying that he was and thats the plan but plans, as we all know, can change. I'm not sure that he was planning this much of a content-upgrade himself or how it affects his release dates when he came up with the plan. Or that we can make accurate estimates when in a year time the release intervals can be vastly different than they were before.
There's been a general trend to longer release times and I haven't seen anything that would make me think the releases would come quicker.

I find the 14 to 20 episodes answer to be a bit confusing though and I can't quite make up my mind as to whether he's serious or not. First I can't see the current story lines going on for another 8 episodes, let alone 14. Maya/Josey, Jill, and Sage's stories are pretty well advanced, I can't see how he could stretch them out that long. There's also his past announcements, just within the past year he's said three season's/12 episodes, three season's/10 episodes, and now 14 to 20 and God knows how many season's.

And writing.

Kind of funny that we also have University of Problems, which is another clone, really. And both take this singular aspect of BADIK to ramp up. CK takes the fighting. UoP tries to subvert the "sorority of whores" concept.

That's true, everyone needs a mountaintop to strive for. DPC raises the bar for all developers. They all would like to have his popularity.

I was surprised by the support it has. The only thing I don't like in CK is the fight minigame, in badik is way more easy.

She's already seen it in the showers after the tennis match
Well...for some. Those on Neutral or DIK route don't have that happen.

Honestly? I'm fine with Jill's sex scenes(if they ever happen) being awkward. As the story progresses she'll probably open up more, and not in a corruption type of way.
Ya I am, too - I kinda hope she's a virgin - the thing is DPC needs to hurry up and get the sex moving so that we can potentially progress past the awkward virgin scene to more fun stuff. The awkward type scene early on would serve to promote the relationship development and intimacy which isn't a bad thing, IMO.

CK is buggy as fuck. Phone constantly showing new messages when there are no new messages, and it's the only game I played where saves made with the current version of the game didn't work, but saves from the previous update work fine

The thing I sometimes worry about is that they will think that they have to keep exceeding each episode when they really don't. I'm sure this episode will be quite be jam-packed like the last one was, and with the exception of the DnG, it did quite a lot to at least advance the in-game time even if didn't entirely advance the story that much.

It seems like that might be the right formula of having lots going on and advancing the plot gradually, and if they can do that effectively with 5000+ renders and 200+ animations per episode, then they shouldn't need to keep going bigger.

Unless they do what some TV shows do which is have a particular crisis/drama in the first half of the season that gets mostly resolved, and then leads into a whole new crisis/drama in the 2nd half of the season. In the case of this game, maybe most crises/dramas might resolve themselves by the end of Season 2, and then a whole new set will start with Season 3.

And writing.

Haven't played College Kings but have played UoP and really enjoying it so far. I don't really see it as a BaDIK clone because I think it feels very different. I think the issue here is that any college-based adult game is going to get compared to BaDIK even if it's a totally different kind of game.

Thats the problem with ambition. You get ambitious. Never about practical need, but personal need. And alas, that sort of thing is tied into why DPC is good at what he does. Strip that, and you lose the quality.

I'm a bit behind, to be fair. I should catch up.
N7 comes with the Wallpaper but it is going to send it in pieces to several users, so we have to put the puzzle together
N7 is Casmyr confirmed.
