Sorry, but he specifically fundraised for the new equipment with the promise of shorter times between updates, it wasn't anybody misconstrueing anything. He had a pinned post at the top of his Patreon showing a progress bar on the fundraising. He never said anything about shifting bottlenecks or manual labor until after the fundraising was complete.To be fair to DPC, this is what he said about his new hardware:
So paraphrasing, "Shit will render faster, but I'm gonna do more shit with it".
The usual issue is people misconstrue shit, believe their misconstructions and then get upset when the shit they thought (which was wrong) turned out to be wrong.
I wonder if we'll get a bit of Chad background to understand what he went through, i.e. did he know he was gay and used Sage or was he just unsure and came to realisation over time.

at best, for him, he couldn't back down once Sage had stepped up to him and he had to keep his game to keep from being discovered

I'll grant you that but it doesn't help as much as it should, imagine if each episode of a tv show doubled in length and therefore the time between episodes increased every time then imagine the showrunner told the fans they were taking a second crew so that multiple eps could be produced simultaneously and reduce the wait, only to make each ep 4 times longer.
Oh well, it's not like I pay anything for it

EDIT: Just looked at his Patreon page. I can't see the 9000 milestone, but an earlier one pretty much showcases his attitude:

No mention of speeding up development times there, but I don't know where to find his hype for the 9000 milestone.
I'll give you an example of an even more depressing situation.
A TV show takes twice as long to come out with the final season (2 years instead of 1), there are only 6 episodes (although each episode was variable length - not the typical 60 mins), and it still felt rushed. Could it be I'm talking about GoT...

it can be, but it is difficult to explain a crush that survives a couple of years of complete disinterest, without even before there has been a moment of happiness and passion (or at least there has not been shown or told)
easier to explain it with a "project on him" that is a quite common female attitude
