A lot of the characters look like actors from Grease, 30 year olds playing teenagers. Dawe and quite a number of other characters look like they are in their 40s.

I major in film. Music is one of the essential part of storytelling as it creates atmosphere and more times than not it elevates and amplifies whatever scene its included. Don't you think you're missing out if you're doing this? Especially, when the music is really important like for the ending of episode 7.

Again, I'm just curious here. Do you do it throughout the game or listen to the ingame music from time to time? Just wanna know.

Unless I'm playing a game where I need to hear footsteps behind me or something other vital, I shut of all sounds(excluding VoIP, communication is important). I've disabled all music in games I play since the 1980s. If the writing/story of a game is good it will be just fine without the music. Kinda the same reason I avoid shows that use a laugh track. If you have to queue up the laughter so that I know it was funny, it wasn't funny. The thing that irks me the most is when somebody releases a game and it ignores my mute-all settings and they insert random knocking (on doors) or really shitty moaning, too.

If I were watching a movie or TV show, most of the time I can tolerate background music, but I really don't care for it most of the time. There are exceptions, but unless music is the primary focus of what I'm watching (e.g. Bill & Ted, Bohemian Rhapsody, Detroit Rock City) it just doesn't need to be there for me.

While I completely feel firsthand how music adds atmosphere and visual media is lessened by its absence, I fully understand Ilhares' POV, also. If the work is not strong enough to carry itself without music, then it's a weak piece. With regards to the creative process, shouldn't you be including the hearing-impaired in your target audience (certain exceptions being those with music as the focus, as Ilhares pointed out)?

Additionally, if you've never watched a show with the sound off and the closed captioning on, then you've likely not watched TV near a sleeping baby. You'll do anything to keep those little fuckers from waking up.
