DSP is a bad writer who can't write Jill as inexperienced but at least intelligent enough to know that Tybalt is a moron who's full of shit
Fairly sure she's quite well aware but too polite to tell him this straight to his face until he absolutely riles her up. Where Rusty was a cocksure dude who wasn't really hurt by taking him down a peg, Tybalt is just so pathetic it can make one reluctant to tell him this.

Rusty wasn't threatening to have someone she cares about put in jail(likely succeeding in her mind). You have to take the context of the entire situation into account, not just cherry pick the details that support what point you want to make.
i dont really think there was any cherry picking here. if Jill as the where-with-all, confidence, intuition, intelligence and experience to nearly instantly figure out exactly the type of guy that Rusty is and then throw it in his face as she doesnt look back while putting on her pixel sunglasses.....

....then she cant equally be the naive, inexperienced, meek, and frankly dumb character she has to be in order to let Tybalt have ANY sway over her. If she has the capability to instantly size up Rusty, then it should apply to Tybalt as well. With how Tybalt treats Jill and her friends irl, and how he essentially stalks her on rooster, its totally illogical that she doesnt understand the kind of person he is. Compared to Rusty, Tybalt is a cartoon character lol

you cant really have a damsel in distress that has actual agency in a story. Genuine characters have agency, damsels are more like objects/plot devices for the actual characters to interact with.

Well yea see, all this tells me is that the development time has gone on for too long lol. It's fun to analyze the game but at some point it just devolves into overanalyzing things. People were arguing about STEVE at some point. That annoying guy from the beginning of the game. Mild discontent eventually turns into valid criticisms which will eventually just turn into vitriol towards the dev. It's not always the same people who praise the dev, it's usually the people who have a chip in their shoulders regarding the dev then others with mild discontent decide to chime in.

DPC isn't the best writer but he's definitely better than most devs here. Not saying he should go be an author though. I really don't think the writing is what's most important. I don't really give a shit about the drama. I just see them as plot devices that move the story forward. If I wanted something deep and meaningful, then I'd just read a book. I'm here for that old school, partying college experience with some sentimental moments thrown in sometimes as some dumbass 18 year-old learns what it means to grow up. It seems like I'm not alone on that. That's why I don't really understand people who said they cried during some parts. Like what? Sure, I can appreciate the mood being created but it's not going to evoke some kind of strong emotion. Not every single character has to be make sense or be this self-actualized, strong, independent, whatever, whatever. I mean look at Quinn, you're telling me she's in financial straits because she sucks at slanging weed to a bunch of college kids even when she basically has a monopoly on the market? Damn, she should quit fucking around and just hit the books.

It's like a Marvel movie. You're not really going to sit there and wonder how they can even afford that big flying ship in the sky. You're there to watch superhumans fight each other and the fun interactions between Captain America and Tony Stark. You can see the twists and turns from a mile away, but you're still going to enjoy it (Though tbh, I can't remember the last time I saw a Marvel movie. I could've used a different example but whatever. Point stands). You can still appreciate the "clever" or "deep" moments because they exist but it doesn't mean that's what the movie is supposed to be. Same logic for soap operas. You're not there for the writing. It's just fun escapism. People always going around and saying "Oh it needs a message" or "it needs to do the hur-dur-dur". Nah. Not every single thing has to be like that. It's more about the simple interactions between characters and the action (physical and non-physical) than it is about how the characters interact with the conflict. Who cares how we get there? What matters is that the premise stays the same throughout. It'd be off-putting as hell to suddenly have it transition to basically being lectured for half an hour about something because enough people complained about it.

It may be overrated in terms of writing but it's popular for a reason. It hits all the right notes and it knows its target audience. Anyone here that comes because they're attracted to the "deep story" is just a plus for DPC. Those same people then try to pressure the creator to make it something it's not. That's one of the instances when I can appreciate DPC's stubbornness, though ... ep 8 felt like he was starting to crack (not talking about Jill or whatever people are talking about in this regard). It may just turn into another game that I just get from here instead of going to Patreon. We'll see with ep 9.

Honestly. DPC could be fully intending to make BADIK that but I really don't think that's what makes it popular.

The Rusty Tybalt connection doesn't really work when you consider that Jill has resisted Tybalt's advances for 2 or 3 years before being blackmailed. The poor writing comes with Jill not considering asking the other Preps what happened before agreeing to Tybalt's demands. If she had asked then she would have either found out that Tybalt was lying and no-one would back him up, or as players we'd have found out that the rest of the Preps who happily talk shit about Tybalt are two-faced scum and we'd need to treat them with caution in future eps.
i also kinda take issue with this from a story perspective. Jill only has resisted Tybalt for the last however long its been because DPC never explicitly says anything happened offscreen. IMO, The in universe writing doesnt line up with Jill not have already dated Tybalt solely because she refuses to say no to people and due to her overly polite nature and middle school mindset when it comes to what dating is. if she was dumb enough to fall for the blackmail plot, then 2 or 3 years ago she was likely even dumber and easier to manipulate into a date.

this is just my take concerning Jill's character and her lack of consistency in characterization. of course in the end DPC will try to steer the canon where he wants it, but some things will probably just never jive 100% for me in BaDIK

Is there a convenient thread on this website to see what DrPinkCake posted for his patreon updates? He posted something 3 days ago but you can't view it unless you're a patron.

That might actually be a good idea. Not for updates since that's basically just fluanting that someone's taking shit from Patreon and posting it here but for like minor troubleshooting (what seaons do I play? Why mod break game?) and it could even be posted on the first page too.

Dr Pink Cake, why something so long and complicated ?
U know KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid), you should have done somthing like Acting Lessons, it was simple, fun and didn't last for ages before the endings.
In my own opinion, the more we go further into this game, the more it starting to be a turn off with those mini game, free roaming and this interlude thing, like i said KISS, because KISS is better than Kill (Keep it lame lad).

There is an absolutely huge difference between smirking at someone's name dropping and dropping your own as to say my name is at least as big, if not bigger than yours. And having the legal knowledge to understand that someone's legal complaint has no merit and could easily be destroyed in court. If you actually believe his "case" has merit, knowing that a) the complainant has a fair amount of wealth and power and b) the "perp" is a poor nobody that the legal system will definitely not try to portect from said complainant, you might not believe your own greater wealth and power(presumably anyways) is not enough to counteract those 3 issues. The two stories are not even close to the same and take serious cherry picking to try to compare.

i feel like there is some misunderstanding here. like we are on different wavelengths

its not just about her "smirking", her ENTIRE attitude/personality is different. she is effectively not the same Jill in that one scene that she is in the rest of the game. and there is nothing to be said about legal knowledge or whatever, that has nothing to do with anything at. im not even thinking about that when i compare the scenes, it literally has no bearing at all.

The comparison starts and ends at how she has the intelligence and life experience to read somebody instantly and size them up correctly, and then confidently act on that intuition as the situation demands. If she can tell that Rusty is a braggart horndog, and knock him off his high horse as she sexily struts away; then why can she not simultaneously see that Tybalt is an obsessive weasel and a twat and then correctly act on those intuitions about his character (or lack there of) and put him in his place?

the Jill in that Rusty scene is like the fantasy version of herself, cause in the real game universe she is eternally a child psychologically and would apparently never grow up into a real adult without the MC

Hey guys, I've not been following the update of this for a while, can someone tell me why N7 has stopped posting status update? I scroll a few pages back and is it because DPC has start banning people who leak them?

About Interlude drama- based. This whining about "bad and unnecessary Zoey" or "MUH Interlude" is very tired. When the DPC introduced her in Episode 3 during a flashback with Bella, I realized how important she is to Tremolo's world and how she helped build his inner self, get out of the bottom. Without Zoey, he would have ended up as a bullied sociophobe in isolation or a school shooter. Even then it was clear that Zoey would be Chekhov's gun.

Jill finally follows Bella/Lana's advice and doesn't look "how she was raised". She does what needs to be done. Arranging hell for Tybalt and breaking his infantile dreams, the daring Jill from the prologue of Episode 5 wakes up again.
In general, she is a rather mysterious character (no less mysterious than Bella) and we need to find out more about her past in order to be sure whether this was a mistake / ignorance from DPC in Ep5.
Well, that is one theory.

If someones jumps the gun he doesn't bother double posting the same info.

The Interlude is annoying because it's supposed to be immediately followed by Chapter Nine, which it very much hasn't. Sure, Ch9 will be the next thing released, and going forward new players will be able to immediately jump in, but as of now, it's "pointless".

Story-wise, DPC should have kept it attached as the intro to Chapter Nine instead of releasing it as it's own thing. Mechanically or because of the save conversion, it was wise to put it out when he did. If only he'd followed up with Chapter Nine a few months later instead of whatever we'll have to wait now.
